One for SMF

you understand you're making up excuses to bash him, right? just like I make up excuses to defend him.

Dior could've easily been paid and gone G League. He got the kid to come across the country to Pittsburgh. The most talented kid to ever sign on to play Pitt hoops.

The 2022-23 class was the best class since when? Adams? 2012? Every single kid is either an ACC player right now, or will be once they develop.

again, I didn't say you have to throw a parade, but your complete lack of recognition makes your agenda obvious. You've staked your name multiple times to 6 or less ACC wins.. you said a few weeks ago this team was worse than Stallings 2nd year.. now you're saying NIT at best.. keep it going.
Excuse me. The most talented kid to ever sign on to play Pitt hoops? As the resident Steven Adams defender. Not even close. Adams is a 26mpg player on the second best team in the West and is signed with the Grizzle through 2025. He's going to have a 15 year NBA career.

Also the rating didn't show it but Blair > Dior.

I didn't say best.. I said talented.. Adams wasn't very talented at Pitt.. Blair obviously had talent, but he was just a bully under the hoop. I don't like when guys say bully ball players aren't talented... it's absolutely a skill. Blair had incredible touch as well.

from a pure prospect, Dior is the most talented. Not sure what his NBA career will look like but that's not what I'm arguing. He's a very polished player and looks like he has an amazing feel for the game.

Still calling BS on this. I’m putting up the @thirteenNINE signal to settle the debate.

Not sure what you mean by Adams not being talented at Pitt, but he was on the NBA radar before he ever played at Pitt and would’ve been a 1st round pick had he never left New Zealand. His athleticism was off the charts at a young age and he showed how good he was in the AAU tournaments

1) Charles smith as the #2 pick in the draft says hello everyone!

2) Dior johnson will never be drafted in the NBA and most likely will never play in the NBA

3) PSU is recruiting a TICK worse than Pitt, at a worse place for everything in hoops, with a much better coach. PSU is in a much better spot than Pitt currently regardless of how bad the ACC is. They already proved they could play with the best in the league this year.

But yes, other than them trending upwards, having similar talent, winning bigger games, having a better staff and being in bracketology right now Pitt is in a better spot.

yeah, he was very coordinated and moved very well for his size.. it wasn't hard to see the rim protecting potential. He was elite at it.

talented, though? I mean he could make some layups and dunks at Pitt. Watching him now, he obviously filled out his frame. He's a great screen setter in the NBA - Desmond Bane attributes most of his open looks to Steve because the dude is a brick wall screen setter. He's a great rebounder. Solid passer at the position. He turned into a very solid NBA player.. but he wasn't a game changer at Pitt. He was very raw.

Dior would come in and run the offense. Make shots. Draw the defense. Control the pace. From a basketball prospect standpoint.. Dior is way more talented than Adams was and it's not all that close.

Also, guards are naturally more talented than bigs when they're younger. It's hard for bigger guys to evolve their game at a young age when they're constantly hitting growth spurts. Coordination is a big part of it and Adams was extremely coordinated at his age, which made him a very elite prospect.

I love Steve Adams but idk how you can say he was the most talented guy to play at Pitt. He was oozing with pro potential because of his size and mobility. He wasn't a guy you could give the ball to and he'd get you a bucket. He wasn't a good free throw shooter. His basketball skills were very raw, but he was an ELITE athlete. Skilled though?

I was gonna say.

Good lord, Dior Johnson the most talented player ever at Pitt. Someone has lost his mind.

lol we can argue who's #1, but there's no argument he's in the top 5.

a year ago he was on board with Oregon and a projected lottery pick.

Who was the most talented guy Dixon brought in? Sam Young? Lamar Patterson? Blair? What's the combined NBA life on these guys? Dior being the most talented, or even top 5, isn't a very high bar to clear.

But Dior Johnson will never play in the NBA because of character concerns and his background. Another shoulda coulda woulda guy gonna be on the playground telling everyone that everyone else screwed him like Carl Krauser. So who cares

NBA scouts know everything a kid does and have PI’s follow them. I doubt PI’s are following him anymore. If you think the Prolific Prep coaches aren’t telling on him about his fighting in practice prowess… well.. they are.

I don’t think you can make a claim about a dudes talent when he hasn’t yet played a game in college.

and maybe he won't, but that's not what I was arguing. I'm talking about him as a prospect signing with Pitt.. he's the most talented one to sign here. That's all I said. I didn't say he'd have the best NBA career. I didn't say he'd be picked better than Charles Smith in the draft. I didn't say he'd have the best numbers on a Pitt team.. I said he's the most talented kid to sign the dotted line to play here.

If you're doubting his elite skill, watch his tape. Controls the pace. Shields defenders in the half court when driving. Silky smooth shot. Good finisher at the cup. Elite handles. Great passer.

If you guys won't even concede he's a top 5 talent to sign on, you simply want to argue. This is a guy that puts you over the top.

Hey guys, just saying, I'm not getting near enough accolades for this all-time great prediction. For years we have debated this with some of you saying he would get as much as a 10 year show cause. I told you all along he wasnt on the wire saying that and there was nothing that could be directly traced back to him.

We're comparing Dior to Adams and Blair? Wake me up when the Fred Primus vs Aaron Gray debate starts.

Let’s be serious. If a kid is talented enough, then an NBA team will take a chance on a kid with character concerns. There are a lot of guys playing in the NBA that have character issues.

Well it’s worth noting your Capel’s biggest defender so….

I've critiqued Capel more than you've complimented. That's worth noting. The guys who are 100% negative have no room to talk for me defending the coach. If you want to look at it fair and make legitmate points without name calling, I will gladly respect your opinion.. but anytime I post anything I'm met with name calling or insults.

Really Not much to compliment as far as I’m concerned. Improved this year it seems- so far - but he’s been a failure.

If he sticks around and actually signs who’s committed - another good step. But I’ll pump that when it happens and not a second before. Verbals mean zero.

fair enough. I think clearly hitting on Hinson, Twins and Fede is something to be excited about.

We're seeing Duzzi getting WPIAL kids back to Pitt through the portal. Would love to Morton come back and finish his career in his hometown.

Stop doubling down on stupid

Cautious for me. I have said I love the way Hinson plays. I think he’ll remain solid. The other 3 have to play out a little more and may need much more time for full judgement. But I’ll certainly concede their possibilities.

Fede and the twins!? Fede has been mostly fine against bad teams and the twins don’t play??

Morton isn’t going to go to Pitt as long as Capel is the coach.

You don't like how the twins project? 7' tall.. move really well.. very coordinated.. very good touch.. Jorge doesn't play because he's simply too light and will get bullied. G doesn't play becasue of similar reasons, but also you can't take min away from your backcourt. Elliot needs to take up as many min at the 3 as he can handle and Nike is your first guy off the bench.. more trust with an older guy than an 18 year old.

you don' think in a year or two these two kids will be high level ACC guys?

I'm more bullish on the twins than Fede.. still a little skeptical about Fede because of the competition, but he's only a Sophomore.

70-80 other P6 staffs thought they didn’t project to this level. I like to side with the majority. Considering they’re “stretch 4 or 5’s” no. I’d much rather have thicker, athletic pick and roll 5’s like Fede and a taller Hinson would be the ideal 4.

If you’re asking me do I blindly think the staff that thought Ithiel Horton was the most talented offensive player in the ACC can project these twins to be ACC level players, it’s obviously no. As with any person of sound mind and body would.

You have them backwards. Jorge plays the four and sometimes the three. Guillermo has played almost exclusively the five.

I'll make a bet with you that one, or both, will be in the NBA at some point. I will bet you that before their senior season, they'll both be averaging double digits.

Nobody thought Mo Gueye was any good. Nobody thought Justin Champagnie was an All ACC player. Nobody thought Blake Hinson was an All ACC player.

You say you side with the majority.. well the majority of high level scouts think Dior Johnson is a lottery talent and you don't think he's a top talent to sign with Pitt.. PITT lmao.. Pitt out here producing NBA talent left and right apparently.

you're all over the place.

Lol what? I didn’t say Dior wasn’t a lottery talent; although he isn’t. He is a first round talent. He has a middle school brain. He will probably get a summer league tryout then they’ll realize what every other school that annexed him realized.

I have as good of a shot as the twins to play in the NBA.

Being on a G league roster or getting a 10 day contract isn’t “being in the NBA”. Getting a pension is being in the NBA. Anyone who is dumb enough to keep chasing the NBA dream instead of going and making real $ overseas can be on a G League roster as long as they want.

If they thought that wouldn't he have been rated in the top ten in the recruiting rankings? I don't know what his exact ranking was, but it wasn't anywhere close to that high. Wasn't it in the 30s or 40s?
Yes. He used to be considered a sure fire NBA player. Then he was kicked out of OakHill and Prolific Prep for fighting kids literally every day in practice. And now NBA scouts think he’s undraftable.

On3 has both twins inside the top 100 in the class. A lot of databases didn't grade because they were overseas until they went to IMG. At least one will be in the NBA. Two 7' floor stretchers with ball skills and can shoot. That's what every NBA team looks for.

IDK why you keep moving the goalposts.. I said Dior was the top talent to sign with Pitt. IDC about baggage, fights with other teams, NBA potential.. IDC. Not arguing that. Not saying he's a lottery pick. I'm saying his talent is good enough to make him a lottery pick.

Who cares? He’ll never play for Pitt. I predicted that when he signed and shocker I was right.

On3 rankings are a joke. Top 100 in your class isn’t close to the NBA. And I’ll take 60-70 other teams seeing them (as everyone saw IMG PostGrad team) and no one wanting them over 4 failed head coaches because they signed a couple G League players.

Ok. I’ll take the bet that these 20 year old twins who can’t get on the court for another bad Pitt team will not make the NBA. Not G League. Because apparently you think that’s the same thing. NBA.

you said signing a 10 day and playing in the NBA isn't making the NBA.. I'm not really sure what that means
