It's one freaking game and one lost and already the whining about bad recruiting, bad coaching, bad players, venue not a tough place to play in, etc. PLEASE !!! I don't understand this board and so called fans. Pitt is a good team that lost at home to a great team. That were better than Gonzaga, Their one big (Hammonds) was athletic. Gonzaga's one big can shoot but they were all slow and Pitt ran on them (as much as possible on a bad floor). We all know we will have trouble with teams that have multiple good bigs. But Pitt showed what the future looked like because we got both Purdue and Gonzaga's bigs in foul trouble. Better teams will expose them on that later in the season and teams not as good as Pitt will get hurt by that when playing the Panthers down the road. I have only three problems with the game last night. One Jamie praised the teams shot selection but it was horrible last night. When close Pitt took quick bad three point shots instead of driving, at one point Cameron Johnson came in off the bench cold and attempted two quick three pointers. Which leads to point two, the announcer's were fair to Pitt and Ellis was right from the tip Pitt should have drove and challenged their bigs it would have changed the game as they got into foul trouble. Heck Hass got 2 fouls in 1:30 of the second half. Half of Purdue's team was in foul trouble but instead of driving we took bad long shots and got no boards. Three the basketball team took a bad page out of the football teams (play) book. You cannot spot enormous leads to good to great teams and expect good results. But it will be a great season. Regardless, it's only one game and one lost. Can we wait for a few more before we whine !!!

Yep. I agree everything should be just fine. Next, let's get back in the win column again an improved Duquesne team. Pitt can't take them lightly and must guard the 3 well.

We still got this! Not all is lost!

Everyone needs to just chill for now...

Go Pitt...

I agree in general about it being "one game"----but it also might a little early to call Purdue a "great" team

Sagarin's computer has them as the #2 team nationally today--were #4 before last night's game.

We make our 3's at a decent rate (vs 4/19) we might still have lost but it would have been a much closer and different game.

In fact, if both teams made 1/3 of 3s--then they have 1 less three and we have 2 more that is a swing of 9 points in our favor and the game is 69-65 Purdue (interestingly that is exactly what Sagarin's computer predicted pre-game).

We lost to a very good team and by more than we should have because we were cold from 3-point land. We are probably about the #36 team Sagarin has us (or maybe the #30 team Sagarin had us before a cold shooting night) and we are going to improve over the course of the season.

Nothing to be ashamed of or worried about, IMHO.
