We can all agree that Pitt needs more. They need more shooting, more rebounding, more depth, etc. If it is a quality player, there is literally not a position that they shouldn't add to this roster. If they can get strength at a couple of positions, that is what you have to do and then adjust around it. This needs to first be built with how they best can. We all know that quality grad transfers would be great. There will be some high school talent due to the coaching changes. The one area that is a market inefficiency is the pure transfers. Programs, like fans, want instant gratification and in today's game, the kids that have to sit lose a little value. Not because of the talent, but because the scholarship is tied up for another year. That is one area where a team like Pitt can exploit. Take the "longer term" plan and set it up for two years out.
With all of that being said, it is hard to implement and then follow a plan without knowing the makeup of the roster. All of these transfer announcements and not one of them from Pitt yet. Capel and this staff should have a pretty good idea at this point. Maybe a couple of players have spoken to him and expressed their desire to transfer. They could be waiting for the academic semester to end. Hard to say because every situation is different. Have to think at least two players leave. But until they do...
If no one else was to leave, it has to be a much different approach. If three or four players leave, it opens some things up. All of this is obvious, but the staff has to have clarity at this point in order to move forward in this free agency period. Until we know who is leaving and how many spots there are, it is hard to form too many strong opinions on who should be added.
