I, like many other on here, figured Pitt would either blow out Wake (like we did against Va Tech), or that we would lose an excruciating game late. I never thought Wake had the players to blow us out (they don't have anyone like Cat Barber for example), but I was worried that if this got into a close game late, we just wouldn't have the will to win.

I give the team a lot of credit for battling tonight and winning a close hard fought game at home. We all know Wake's record, but this team is better than their ACC record (they beat some good teams OOC), and they have been in a lot of close ACC games.

In many ways, I'm glad Pitt won a game like this where they took a punch. Beating Wake by a bunch would've also been nice, but we've seen Pitt crush teams when they make shots. What we really haven't seen, is Pitt win a game where they really don't play all that well. Even in the good years, Pitt would win games like this occasionally, games where the other team might have played better, but we out toughed them, out willed them to a win. (remember Ashton making a buzzer beater against Providence for example)

Hopefully the team builds on this and plays well against the Cuse.

Another positive thing to takeaway was Jones. Not saying he is gonna score over 20 a night but I loved how he was finally playing aggressive. He is a pretty good finisher at the rack so it was nice to see him try to get there. Now if he could do it against Louisville in a week maybe we could pull that one out. But that remains to be seen

He's been our best combined player the last three games. I'm hoping he continues to play well.
