Onward State - PSU deserves a better rival

It's a running joke among Buckeye fans how badly PSU wants to be taken as a rival. Rivalries are not one sided affairs. PSU is thought of as more of a Wisconsin/Iowa type opponent. Pesky, but not really feared.

Not that it really matters as far as this thread is concerned, but ND is also a rival of Michigan, and there is a little thing called the Little Brown Jug with Minnesota.

There would be some real bad blood with Neb if we played more often. Both fan bases thinking the other team had no right to call themselves champs in 97.

As far as PSU, I constantly see them try to suggest PSU is the bigger thing when it comes to Michigan. As if.

Whether it is football program present, all time, or simply head to head....Michigan is tops. Even more so if you add academic rankings, brand recognition, etc. Michigan is among the 8 blue bloods. PSU is not.

Don't tell the BWI folks though....they are convinced they should be second in conference to the Buckeyes. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Ummm...if Ohio State is the Coca Cola of the Big Ten, Michigan is Pepsi. Penn State is Tab.

And to be honest, before they scheduled the current series, and we hadn't played them of 10-12 years, I wondered why you guys on this forum talked about them so much, I wasn't feeling any rivalry neither and they had become irrelevant to me, I never paid attention to their games or seasons for many years.

Well that is not true. We have Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State, so we don't really need to have more big rivals. I don't think Pitt and PSU are right now that different on the field, of course stressing on the field. The programs aren't close in size and importance.
Say this ten times-Michigan is not your rival. You would have to get in line to get on their "rival" list....................

When I travel around the country and mention I'm from PA, one of the first thing people say to me is, "Are you a PSU fan?", then they smirk a little. I tell them bluntly I wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near that place and abhor anything related to PSU, especially the ongoing child rape scandal. I tell them my thoughts that PSU should be banned from college football. I've never once run into anyone who disagreed with my sentiments. That's the perception that PSU has around the country as a cesspool of perverted cultists. The only place they have any sympathizers is in central PA and some pockets in Philly and Pittsburgh.

LOL, this guy is entertaing if nothing else.....are BigNittanyLion and BigPanther brothers in a house divided for the week?

The arrogance and complete lack of self awareness is astounding. Do these morons realize they aren't elite any longer and haven't really been close?

Wow, did I sleep for a long time? Is it already Sunday, and did Penn State win by 4 touchdowns yesterday? This article only makes sense if that is true.
This article is not only ill-timed (the day BEFORE the game, and one in which they may loose, perhaps badly) but it shows a complete lack of understanding that Pitt turned the corner in the past two years, with a new chancellor committed to football, entrance into a P5 conference where we have the stage and the money to compete nationally, and a new AD and HC that have what it takes. Both PSU and Pitt are in entirely new eras, and reciting won/loss records of the past is irrelevant.
