I cannot find the exact article, but I remember last year that it was reported Dixon wanted to attempt to schedule with Nova or Georgetown. It would obviously benefit us to renew some Big East Rivalries in our OOC. The new AD is making this push in football with PSU and Cincinnati should we expect any of this in basketball in the near future?

Nova, Gtown, and SJU will never play Pitt home and home. Those 3 teams, based on their locations and the fact they are not overly difficult venues to play in, can pretty much select whoever they want to play. Nova can call up anybody and get one game at the Sixers' arena and one game on the road. That team won't be Pitt.

Never even thought of it like that thank you, but even some AAC opponents like Cinci or Uconn. Obviously Uconn also has no trouble getting teams to play them, but Storrs is also not a destination. As for Cinci we did play them at MSG two years ago and although looked good on paper was one of the worst games I've ever been to.

We can call up Cincy, Memphis, or Temple and have a home and home tomorrow. Those schools would love to play us. UConn is a little more in demand but we could probably get a home and home with them too. Those American schools have to beef up their non-cons. Instead we call up Nova and Gtown, 2 schools who we know will never play us.

I'm not so sure Temple would play Pitt at the drop of the hat. They play the Big 5 schools (Villanova, St. Joe's, LaSalle, Penn) on a yearly basis, plus always have 2 or 3 big schools on the schedule (bigger than Pitt) such as Kansas, Duke, Syracuse, Texas, etc. in addition to a tournament.

I think Cincinnati probably would. Seton Hall and Providence likely would. I still think they should go out and play at New Mexico, Boise State, or Creighton when those schools are hosting NCAA Tournaments, which they seem to do fairly often.
