Seems like a lower-tier P5 team. Perhaps would be worst in the ACC besides maybe Louisville. Beat Troy and App St, both in OT in Corvallis. Also beat a D2 school. Nebraska beat them by 21 in Sioux Falls.

This is going be a Quad 3 that you absolutely cannot lose and winning it does nothing for you. I guess if you blow them out, its good for NET. But a big missed opportunity. Beating Florida and a close loss to Baylor as opposed to losing by 15 to Florida and beating Oregon State is worth 15 spots in the final NET rankings

They are not a good basketball team at all.

All we have to do is play far smarter as a team and we will win.

I’m amazed Tinkle has been able to survive there through some lousy seasons. After his son graduated they haven’t had much talent at all.

170th in KenPom… yeah, this feels like a pretty important game. Hopefully they can bounce back and it’ll give them some confidence heading into the next 3 tougher games.

This sucks. Would’ve loved to have been sitting on a W vs Florida and a nice litmus test vs Baylor.

Now we have a must win game. Must win in the sense can’t afford a Q3 loss and it looks like the ACC is sucking again so might get a few Q3 opportunities in conference again this season

They have good size inside and their bigs can score in the post. However, their bigs are not very quick and have problems guarding away from the basket. I think we score very well and think Fede may get going. I’d saw we win about 85-69.

Lol - the season isn’t a simulation. You can’t assume that everything breaks exactly like last year and we are counting up Q3 losses to determine which side of the bubble we are on.

It’s a game that is needed to stay on track for what we think this team could be - but A LOT of basketball left to play either way.

We are fans so we can simulate. Oregon State certainly appears to be one of the worst P6 teams. Also, Missouri and WVU probably arent going to have good NETs so the OOC is just about a complete waste of time. No good wins. Have to do all our work in the ACC and that's a trash league so not many options for good wins.

Probably need to go 9-1, 13-7 to get in now.

Take the neutral site win and move on. There is a column for road and neutral wins in March.

That column isnt very important. Its a Q3 win so it means nothing and you BETTER not lose it. Clemson's November loss in Atlanta to Loyola Chicago kept them out.

I thought WVU was making the NCAAT as soon as they get the Arizona kid back and you are validated on the Montana kid getting the waiver? So, a road win there would be pretty good, no?

They arent going to make it without the mentally ill dude.
Also, we have nothing to worry about. Jeff listed to you and we are totally gaming the NET this year by beating every bad team by 40 points like we have, gives us room to lose some games.

And, like last year, when we lost to Michigan by 30, this year, Florida was only 15. If we had only lost to Michigan by 15 last year we wouldn’t have even been on the bubble

Its true that the blowout OOC wins have helped but losing to Florida by 15 instead of Michigan by 30 is only worth like 2 spots in NET. Very disappointed in how we ended that game. Should have lost by 8 or so.

So to recap, losing by 15 instead of 30 would have only changed our NET by two spots, but what we really needed was to lose a game by 8 instead of 15.

If losing by 15 fewer points is only worth two spots, why is losing by 7 fewer points somehow worth more than that?

Just another example that you don't understand the NET and you don't understand math.

Yes. Had we lost by only 8, that's another 2 spots roughly. We basically blew 2 spots in NET by throwing in the towel with 1:30 left.

So 15 points is worth two spots, and 7 points is also worth two spots.

Does that mean that 30 points is also worth two spots? And 50? And 1? Is everything worth two spots? Or do you have no idea what you are talking about?

I am estimating because the NET formula is top secret. 15 to 30 could be worth more than 2

And it could be worth less than two. In fact, you have no idea how much it might be worth.

Which is why you think that it makes perfect sense to say that 15 points equals two spots, and seven points also equals two spots.

For most people, when they have no idea what they are talking about they tend to not say anything, or to couch their opinions in qualifiers. When you have no idea what you are talking about, you make grand, precise comments anyway.

Should put you on the committee to explain that we looked a lot better for most of the game

That's the problem. That should have been a 6-8 point loss. You have to play garbage time just as hard. An 8 poiny +- in garbage time is worth several NET spots

It's almost as if you think that Pitt is the only team that something like that happens to.

And that there are never times when Pitt does something similar to it's opponent.

We only had 2 Q3/4 losses. You really cant have more than that. Unfortunately, another "must win" Wednesday vs Q3 Missouri
Missouri’s NET right now is 47. Pretty safely in Q2 for now. And, it sort of goes without saying, if they beat us, their Net would skyrocket.

I think, assuming they float around .500 in the SEC, they should stay above 75.

No, that's last year's. NET isn't out yet. KenPom is 90 and that's usually close to NET. They have a chance to be a Q2 but Q3 seems pretty likely. Dangerous game.
