OT: Arizona - 4 Level 1 charges released

Sean Miller's defense attorney will be issuing his statement on Pantherlair later this morning.
Please stay tuned for details.

I really wish the NCAA would force Arizona and LSU to finally do something with their head coaches. They allow players to twist in the wind for weeks, not allow kids to transfer even if they have legit reasons, but turn a blind eye to these two.

Please get this done with.

Hahaha.

From the article the NCAA wrote:

"The ultimate responsibility for the integrity of the men's basketball program rested with Miller and his staff's actions reflect on Miller as the head coach."

4 Level 1 allegations were levied against 2 assistant coaches and 1 directly against Sean Miller. But no show cause.

Nothing to see here.......

Obviously nobody really knows what that would mean with Sean, but could never see Pitt trying to move on to him.

AND IF, Pitt really would ever want an alum coaching then there are some out there. Obviously Brandin, but hell I did not realize Trey is an assistant on the Bonnies staff.

Are there others out there? Ashton is on Duquesne but seems like same role kind of as Ron on ours. I also saw someone, not sure how seriously, tout Orlando for the New Mexico job.

He’s a effin garbage can of a human
Sorry to say this, but there are certain players you hope get hurt, and I mean have a serious injury.
Sad thing is, this guy is a decent hockey player. The NHL continues to baffle me with their stupidity. Why don't the owners look at these issues and make a move. Forget what the commissioner or the department of player safety say. The owners, for the safety of their players, need to finally take a stand and outlaw these type of hits.
I completely understand that the speed of the game makes it difficult, but when it's the same player doing the same thing the player must be punished severely.

I said essentially the same thing in the Pens thread. Someone needs to line him up and run him. And the team that does it needs to figure out a way to still compensate whoever does it when they get suspended.

Yep, nothing. 1 year NCAAT ban and a half-season suspension for Miller is what I have been saying for years. I am so good at this. Not even Pitino got a show cause. They wont touch Miller.

Hope nothing happens to him so he can continue to get top 100 recruits to come there and lose in the 2nd rd of the NCAA tourney.

The NCAA can start to fix this problem by hitting the schools in the pocket book. Make them forfeit/repay any tournament credits they got for the year(s) they had a level 1 violation. Since most conferences make teams share these credits the schools will have to write a big check and lose money. Second. Don't allow them to receive any credits while they are on probation for Level 1 violations. If I am a conference. I wouldn't let these teams share in the conference credits. Why should AZ get a share of the credits when they are not able to contribute? These penalties will end up being in the millions. Schools will then get real serious if they have to write seven figure checks or lose out on millions. Takes away any incentive. Right now. Schools are willing to cheat. They cheat. Sell more tickets. Increase donations. Maybe hang a banner. And if caught. They fire the coach. Go on probation and can be right back near the top in a year or two. Why wouldn't schools cheat?

He who? Sean Miller? Will never have a P5 job again. He’s done at Arizona. 1 year left on his deal and this notice guarantees they fire with cause. His career is over. Blackhawk may need a new coach who recruits though

Yes, he's done at AZ but primarily because he didnt win at a blue blood level. He will do TV a year and then get a Pitt-level job, hopefully at Pitt.

So according to you he was thhhhiiisss close to having the Pitt job last time. Now this report is out. And you think Pitt’s gonna hire him if they dump Capel in the next year or 2? There’s your typical out there post. Then there’s this one. You’re out of your friggin mind.

And if someone hires him he’s gonna be looked at closely. You think he’ll be able to recruit as well with his scumminess restricted or taken away? GTFOH. He’s just another coach now.

Everyone knew this was coming including me. This is less than nothing. A 1 year postseason ban and half-season suspension. Pitt should have hired him. We'd be in a much better spot than being picked 14th in the ACC in Year 4. I mean, I see this report as GREAT NEWS, its pretty much exactly what I thought

What are you babbling about? You are sounding more stupid everyday and right now it seems like the middle of next week.

Top high school players aspire to play for money and what better to get started than taking a bag of cash to go to college. Pitt is not in the bag money business at this time so Miller would not fare any different than another coach at Pitt.

This reminded me of something. Out of nowhere someone sent me a private message a few years back related to an ongoing discussion. I never deleted it. The person no longer posts here so I don’t think there’s any harm in sharing. Following is an exact quote from part of the message:

I got to know a guy who knows people in the AZ program. He told me some interesting stories.

A minor one: When Miller got sanctioned a year or so back for criticizing PAC-12 refs, he was fined $25K. A booster walked into his office and simply handed him a check to cover that.

Another: He told me that particular booster is everything Sam Gilbert was at UCLA. When AZ wants somebody, they turn Book Richardson loose and tell him "Go get him!" The booster openly brags "NOBODY will out-bid Arizona if we want somebody. " My guy said they buy everybody - how did I think they get Eastern city kids to come to that God-forsaken hole in the desert?

Why are you so comfortable having Pitt settle for mediocrity? Miller can’t win With elite recruits. What makes you think he can win at Pitt.
Yeah the idea of a guy who cheated his ass off at two elite jobs couldn’t get it done would somehow miraculously learn to coach at Pitt is hilarious. Kelvin Sampson is 100x better coach and never got another P5 job. As I said, he’s done as a P5 coach

Congrats on being right about him being guilty of cheating and not even being successful doing it. What a win for you that he got fired for cheating!

He's a cheap shot rat bastard. The worst thing is he doesn't need to play that way. He's a skilled player when he wants to play the game instead of staking around the ice looking to put a blind hit on somebody

OK, what sanctions does he get? I have said a half-season suspension for years. Are you going with a show cause because he's not getting that? They basically have videos of Will Wade handing guys stacks of hundreds and he doesn't even have a show cause

I think he can recruit at the NC State level here and is a better coach than Gottfried and Keatts. I thought Capel would do this also but he hasnt

Sampson got a show cause and was sanctioned at 2 places. No comparison
