Is out now. If you're in this area (or in one where it's available) and are an IPA lover do yourself a favor and get some.

Fatheads lineup of IPAs, DIPAs and pale ales are just terrific.

Do they sell it in bottles? Or draft/growler only? Thanks.

Had it last evening for happy hour (on draft). I think it's a touch below Headhunter, but still extremely good of course.

How would you compare it to Troegs Perpetual IPA?

Slightly stronger hop aroma and taste on the Hop Stalker than Perpetual. I think Perpetual is quite good but not great, and Hop Stalker is little bit better than that.

I'd agree with this. I also don't think Hop Stalker is quite as bitter as Perpetual.

It's been a couple months since the last Perpetual. Fat Heads lists Hop Stalker at 87 IBU while Troegs puts Perpetual at 85. I really wasn't comparing bitterness as much as I was thinking Hop aroma.

So I should throw away my Perp?? BTW, tried to get into Southern Tier's HQ a couple weeks ago.....closed most weekdays, but the door was open.....slick place. No one in the tasting room....we could have been idiots and poured some.....but, as you know, my wife is too good for that stuff. I like their 2X. I'm blaming you for getting me into these craft brews.

Oh I realize that I was just adding my thoughts on the comparison.

And that's Interesting. I think a lot of that information is useful as a general guide but we can all get something different from the same beer. And of course the more you try things can change as well. There were beers I loved when I first got into craft beer that I don't particularly care for any longer. It's getting harder to find new stuff but it isn't for lack of trying.

I agree about it being harder to find new things. I've been putting more into finding places where you can drink beers from the emerging number of local breweries (or going to the breweries themselves.)

I haven't quite hit all the locals yet but for hoppy beer I recommend Spoonwood and Roundabout if you haven't hit them yet. I can't recall the name of the beer at the moment but Roundabout had an IPA that was really good. I don't think they have any staples, they're always rotating I believe.

I prefer the Headhunter but I really lean to Citra and Mosaic hopped beers. However, H2P IPA by Voodoo is maybe my favorite IPA right now and they just use Simcoe (maybe Mosaic too). Yes it stands for Hail to Pitt. Only available in growlers at their homestead site though.

A couple months ago I had a pretty amazing DIPA at Roundabout but its off now. It was almost as good as Lawson's Sip of Sunshine, which might be the best IPA I've ever had. Spoonwood's DIPA is great too, they've improved a lot since they opened. The same goes for Brew Gentlemen in Braddock, really good Double IPA.
