OT: Billions on Showtime & the movie The Big Short

Anyone??

Billions is entertaining although rather bizarre in some instances.

Is The Big Short worth seeing?
Excellent explanation of what happen. Spotlight too. Both Movies were enjoyable and informative.

Hail Caesar will be tough to watch on DVD or Streaming and not worth a Ticket or Rental. Very disappointing.

I am waiting for Axe to bow down on a prayer mat and start praying in Arabic. Oh wait, confusing the two shows.

I like Billions, been fairly entertaining so far. And yes, Giamatti is great in anything.

Nice recent episode of Billions with a lot of Metallica in it.

So far I've enjoyed Billions. I found another show on HBO the other day. I was going through On Demand and came across The Brink. Pretty good show.

Yep, billions has been pretty good, we'll casted in the leads.
The brink has promise.

I love Billions. Back to back with Shameless, it makes for great Sunday night viewing. Although tonight, Vinyl has a 2 hour premier on HBO at 9PM. About the record company business in the 70's. Mick Jagger is one of the producers.

I don't get Showtime so I can't comment on Billions. Haven't seen the Big Short, but I've read the book, which is excellent (although it is a difficult read - lot's on complex financial concepts that really take a while to get your head around - which btw is part of the issue). Anyway, the book is excellent if you're willing to take the time. Scary as sh&$ too. I can also recommend Boomerang by Michael Lewis which is a really great examination of what lead up to the financial collapse. Finally, Flashboys was interesting from an IT and Networking geek perspective, but boring otherwise.

Cruzer

Billions is good. Paul G is terrific

I read The Big Short and saw the movie over the weekend. Book was fascinating and then a little cumbersome. The movie seemed to explain better the deals that were cut/ info that was gleaned .

Not to mention some very funny moments.

worth seeing.

I would also recommend Liars Poker....also written by Michael Lewis...in case anyone thinks Wall Street Greed is a new and recent phenomenon.

Saw Hail Ceaser Saturday night. Don't bother...plot was sketchy at best. Other than getting to see some character actors I haven't seen on the screen for awhile the movie sucked!

The Acting and Casting was very good by all and I love Coen Films. The story line on Film Chief Mannix was good but the screenplay lines just fell flat, and was more of an Insiders form of humor reflecting on spoofing the times in direct relation to true history it was made about to deal with Bosses in New York, avoiding Scandals, and manipulating people in the business.

Much of the Cinematography was outstanding and that very enjoyable. Sometimes when you expect to see something great and it comes up short, it is more disappointing. Maybe it is one of those Movies that takes time to appreciate. I watched Once Upon Time In America 4 Hour version and at first disliked it, and same with Eyes Wide Shut.

Now I have watched both many times and still discover hidden messages and see superb acting with many eyes and facial expressions more than dialogue?

Just expected more, but that is just on me. I loved Bridge Of Spies with Tom Hanks that came right out and easy to understand.

Hail Caesar was just as informative on depicting Hollywood at that time, but harder to decipher, and reminded me much of The Last Tycoon with DeNiro in 1976! I love watching that movie now over and over.

Saw Bridge of Spies last night and thought it very good. Of course Tom Hanks never disappoints.
