The commercials the Pirates keep running on TV keep saying "for the first time ever in Pittsburgh!"

I saw Billy Joel at the Consol Center two years ago and at Star Lake in 1991.

Do they not have anyone who can remember that he was here just two years ago?

Even if you didn't know for sure... You would have to know the claim of first time in Pgh is absurd...yeah the guy who wrote Allentown never played the Burg..gee that's beliveable ... Advertising Fail...

Maybe they mean: "First time outdoors within the city limits"???

Saw him at the Syria Mosque, was the opening act for the Doobie Brothers. He was unknown at the time, we thought the MC was calling him Billy Joe. Heard Piano Man on the radio a few months later and remembered him.

Is this a concert or a post-game concert? PNC is a great venue, but there's a ton of artists who have come to Pittsburgh that have never performed at PNC Park. It's just not the place most concerts are in the area.

He wrote 2 or 3 good songs. The rest were garbage.
Here are some of his hits! a very nice playlist! A lot more than 2 or 3 good songs?
A collection of great songs that you can listen to over and over again! He's on our must go to list along with Jimmy and the Parrots, The Boat Drunks, Tonic, Homemade Wine, Eagles, Beach Boys, Georgia Satelites, George Thorogood, ZZ Top and of course Jimmy Buffett. See them all once a year in the summer and than PITT football starts.

First time at PNC Park. He has been doing a few select baseball stadium shows last summer and this summer, so it's somewhat unique.

To say he had 2-3 songs that matched your taste of music, okay, I can respect that... But to say he only had 2-3 "good songs" is simply wrong. His career is brilliant and his concert sales, album sales, and song catalog show that it was certainly more than 2-3 songs. One of the best of his era.

yeah, agree. Like him or not, saying he only has 2-3 good songs just shows how stupid someone is. I mean, I dont like Madonna but the same could be said about her. When you fill stadiums and have done so for 4 decades you are brilliant.

Anyone that can listen to Goodnight Saigon and come away saying Billy Joel isnt talented needs to start just being an all out Beiber fan.

Had a couple of good looking wives too.

He has more than 2-3 songs... Having said that Uptown Girl was beginning of the end... Then that "In the middle of the night" song? Ugh... I felt he lost his mind entirely on that one... I feel Elton has a similar history... His classic material when he was wild kills the later stuff ...

Correct. For all of his good stuff he grunted out some horrible stuff. Never liked his music. Just personal preference.

Of course I think the same about Springsteen.

LoL

Personally, I prefer the late eighties only Billy Joel tribute band that played the Catalina Wine Festival in Stepbrothers...
