this has to be it, right? Time for Marvin to move on after Sunday’s game? Just curious if anyone thinks Marvin Lewis would be an upgrade over Keith Butler for the Steeler defense. He has defensive pedigree and is a better defensive mind than Tomlin. He has many of the same other qualities that Tomlin has and so if we can bring another Tomlin type coach and help the defense, then everyone is happy, right?

After the last Steelers game I was thinking this guy would be an upgrade for DC,he's also out of a job until late December 2019 so bring Marvin home. I always thought he was a good coach he just stayed at one place to long.

Agree. To coach Pitt.

Marvin Lewis was an elite defensive coordinator in the NFL (2000 Ravens defense). If (or when ) he gets fired by the Bengals, he will get additional opportunities at the NFL , perhaps with the Steelers as a defensive coordinator..
He won't be taking a job as a defensive coordinator in college fb.

I've often thought that the year the Bengals finally are forced to say uncle with Lewis, will coincide with one of our semi- regular head coaching changes. And our admin, eager as always for a quick and easy decision, will be easily enamored of the idea of plopping Marv into the job.

Even if the Bengals think this is the year, and assuming Duz will stick it out with us another year (strongly likely esp if we lose the bowl) ... Marv gotta be well off, so could afford to sit out the next season to lick his wounds. So it could still happen.

The Bengals have a history of discipline problems on and off the field under Lewis. I can't imagine any Pitt administration would take a risk on him.

I thought of that as well. But Wanny had similar lawlessness in his background with previous jobs. They seemed willing to overlook that once he became a convenient solution to an aggravating coaching search, which likely is the A1 task Pitt administrators despise most.

It was off field problems more than win-loss record that sealed Wanny's fate at Pitt. Lewis won't see a job at Pitt since he won't have to and the Pitt admin won't take a chance hiring him.

I would take him over Keith Butler in a heartbeat. Vance Joseph will be on the market too. Both bad head coaches(Joesph might be worst in the NFL) but good coordinators

Just like Norv Turner. I’d take Norv Turner any day to run my offense. But never to run my team.

How about a coaching staff of:
Mike Tomlin-head Coach
Hue Jackson-offensive coordinator
Marvin Lewis-defensive coordinator

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All kidding aside, I’d take Marvin Lewis as a DC, but I’m not sure it would be a good fit with Tomlin. We’ve already had too many player issues under Coach T. As a radio personality eloquently put it yesterday...the Steelers are the loudest team in the NFL.

Just read something about Vance Joseph going to Cindy as DC. Does that mean Lewis will stay?? Goodness gracious.

I dont know if its butler or not. I think the defense needs an ILB(Shazier hurt more than anyone thought) and at least one corner. There is should be some blame on Butler but i think its also personnel
