OT:DII Championship

West Liberty vs Nova Southeastern(Fl)

Some local Kids on West Liberty

On CBS now
Jordan Fee, Nova's Asst. Coach, is the son of Don Fee, the retired Grove City High School Head Coach.

In his 25 years at Grove City, the Eagles accumulated a 432-221 record –– 2nd among Mercer County boys’ basketball coaches to the legendary Ed McCluskey (615-157) – under Fee’s guidance.

This will be the first time since 2018 that a school other than NW Missouri State will be the D2 national champions.

Recently, I watched West Liberty upset IUP in these playoffs.

They can still make a run and get back in this down the stretch.

I'd like to see West Liberty or IUP join the NEC to backfill for SFNY. I could see IUP becoming a dominant team in that conference. I'm not sure why you never hear of them trying to move up. They have a mid-major arena which would easily be the best in that league.

Rollie Massimino’s former team-Nova SE- I was living in Boynton Beach when he coached there. Nice little campus

When I was in college at Gannon, we played in the DII title game against Kentucky Wesleyan. Coached by Rex Chapman's dad. They were a juggernaut. That was a blast in Springfield.

Bob, why do you quote your own tweets? That's next level douchebaggery; although, coming from you, it's par for the course. One of these days, you'll be able to see over the steering wheel and will no longer have to use a booster seat to drive.

Yes, I agree about IUP. But I’m guessing they wouldn’t want to go that route for football? Though I suppose they could go up for basketball only.

IUP could have a nice little NEC rivalry with St. Francis (the one in Loretto) for football. However, I think IUP likes being a premier sports institution at the D2. If they move to D1, sure they could probably do fine against the NEC, but I doubt that anytime soon they rise to the level of the North Dakota and South Dakota States to compete for FCS championships.

Who were the stars for Gannon that season?
Then?
Mitchell Smith who was a transfer from Georgetown
John Bowen who was a transfer from Notre Dame
John Shanghai Matthews from Clairton and from UNLV.
Mike Runski from Valley
They had alot of good shooters,
Jim Rocco who has coached like Penn Hills and North Catholic was a role player.
