OT: Do the Steelers keep Boswell

I can't argue there. Seems like there is no accountability when it comes to those end-zone dances that result in 15-yard penalties. Next season will be a big on for Tomlin. If Pouncey and Bell come back and the offense in general stays healthy, Pittsburgh needs to make a SB run. It won't be easy. The Patriots have no big free agents and are in terrific cap shape and the Ravens will have Flacco back. Harbaugh has owned Tomlin in recent years. That's just two teams among a few others who'll be pretty good.

Boswell has the makings of being a great kicker. For all of the turmoil at that position, he quickly ended all of it by missing only a few kicks all season and drilling every field goal in tough weather conditions and environments in the playoffs.

Here's what I would do...

I would trade Bryant for a DB. I think our WR's could be just fine with AB, Wheaton, Coates, and Heyward-Bey. And I think Bryant has an impressive enough highlight reel that you could still get a pretty good return. And god knows we won't draft a CB - but we have shown a willingness to trade for one (Boykin).

Plus it would solve problems 2 years out because your money allocation would be better - assuming AB is still in his prime for next 2-3 years and that the buzz on Coates is accurate.

Definitely. Wallace did a very solid job this season. The drop-off realistically was not that much, and I actually think lineman are tremendously important. It was just a bad contract for a guy who is literally never healthy.
Wallace was by far the worst OL they had this season he wasn't very solid he is bad and gets beat a lot....Pouncey back and healthy will be huge for the Steelers

I really hate to say this because I really want the guy to succeed more than anyone on the team. But Villanueva was getting beat a ton. I'm not ready to give up on him though, but I think it might have been easier for him to play RT and switched Gilbert to LT. I know most coaches don't want to start shuffling everyone around, but you couldn't expect that much when Villanueva was usually going up against the other team's best pass rusher.

Villanueva killed us.. Cant blame him really, he is not an NFL Caliber LT.. I could see him developing into a decent backup but if he is your starting tackle for more than a game or two, well you get what we saw this year..

Speaking of Steelers did anyone mention yet them signing Ray Vinopal to a futures contract? They have no safeties whatsoever, hopefully he makes the team coming out of camp.

Having any Pitt player on the Steelers roster would be a bonus; Vinopal was certainly looking better his senior year at Pitt; what's his NFL resume look like? Only practice squads or has he had PT in a real game?
No playing time to my knowledge. I think he was cut in training camp by Dallas. But if he can play anything like he did his senior season, he'll easily make the team and might have a chance to get a ton of playing time. Sounds unlikely for a guy signed to a futures contract days after you exit the playoffs, but their safeties are just beyond terrible.

Always liked Will Allen, but he is just not that talented. Seemed to make some mental mistakes this year also, and for a guy who's football IQ is probably what got him this far, that's not good. Mitchell is very talented, but I can't stand seeing him go for the knockout every single time and miss the tackle 9 out of those 10 times. He never, ever, ever just wraps the guy up and makes the tackle. So considering Will Allen is basically a backup who just happened to start, the Steelers could use all the help they can find at the two safety positions. I also always liked Shamarko Thomas, but they clearly haven't seen much from him as he barely sees the field. Special teams captain Robert Golden actually saw more playing time (some at the hybrid LB position he was playing) so Shamarko has clearly shot DOWN the depth chart.

Or do they bring back Suisham? As good as Suisham was in the past, Chris Boswell is several years younger and has a bigger foot (on kickoffs). Plus, he proved himself this year as a more than capable replacement. They can't keep two, and would doubt they would invite both of them to camp to "fight it out", as the need for PK's in the NFL usually gets filled and identified long before training camp.

I'm thinking Boswell is the better choice. Any opinions from the other Steeler fans here?
YES, keep him, he's proved he can flat out kick. No question, he should be the kicker.
