With the unbelievably nice forecast for the weekend, time to switch to summer cocktails. Rarely drink beer (usually only at the beach) and I am a Bacardi/diet drinker year round, but for the summer I love some Tanqueray Rangpur on the rocks or with some tonic. I was introduced to Moscow Mules during our trip to Hawaii in February (with some out of this world homemade ginger beer), so I grabbed some unused copper mugs from my parents and am adding it to my "rotation". You?

I was told to try a Moscow Mule around the holidays. Hated it...but I dislike beer...I know that is unamerican. I love various types of Martinis. I enjoy a good rum drink around the summer as well. Basically put some vodka or rum in it, and count me in..

What's weird is that I'm not a beer drinker, but I guess adding the ginger, lime and vodka made it yummy. Plus there's something about the cold copper mug that adds to it.

My wife and I were in Manhattan last weekend and she had a few Moscow Mules. I tried it and although I like ginger, I don’t like ginger that much! I like margaritas in the summer.

A good vodka with a little tonic on the rocks for me, although that Tanqueray and tonic will work just fine, too.

I'm a year round captain Morgan drinker but my summer drink is mojitos. You can go regular, strawberry, or cucumber. The key is making simple syrup.

Little confused as there is no beer in a Moscow Mule. Ginger beer, yes, regular beer, no. A mule is one of my favorite summer drinks and it is simple to make. Ginger beer, vodka and lime juice. If you live in the Pittsburgh area, Natrona Bottling company has the best ginger beer.

Margarita's with blue curacao. 5 parts margarita mix, 2 parts tequilla, 1 part triple sec and 1 part blue curacao. Fantastic.

As far as beer goes, a German Kolsch, a German Witte or a Corona con limon.

Macallan 12, rocks. No umbrella, no fruit cup, no straw. Simple, and the amount poured doesn't change the taste.

TP - where can I get this? I bought the Stoli's brand (non-alchoholic) from the State Store which is pretty good. (Edit: I went onto their website and I see some of their products are stocked at Soergel's Orchards which is right down the road from me. I need to stop in and see what they have. If they don't carry it or it is way overpriced (a recurring theme at Soergel's), I may have to drive out to Natrona.

I love Moscow Mules. The key to the drink aside from the Copper Mugs is the Ginger Beer. I like a Ginger Beer that is real peppery (or heavy ginger) flavor. Some are good, some are weak. It is a great summer drink for sure. A good old Vodka or Gin and tonic also.

I dial back the "craft" beers too during this time......

Me too Tartan, me too. What's your bourbon of choice? And a nice summer drink for me is also Maker's and Ginger Ale. As for bourbon, I have some Jefferson's Reserve on hand right now.

Good to hear.

Everyday bourbon: Makers Mark (or the 46, which is superb IMHO) or Wild Turkey Rare Breed, neat.

I am a big fan of Angel's Envy--it's very smooth. More special occasions, I'll pick up some Blanton's. Jefferson's Reserve is excellent!

If I'm in a bit of a Rye mood, I really like Jimmy Russel's Rye Reserve.

I find that Makers, for my palate, makes the best Manhattans.

My wife, thankfully, is also a fan of Bourbon. We have a bottle of Pappy's 23 that we will open on our 23rd anniversary. :)

for beer drinkers on a hot summer day

For the money Buffalo Trace is great. Eagle Rare, Four Roses Single Barrel, Basil Hayden, Blanton and Bookers are all terrific as well.

Vodka or Lime Gimlets... which are pretty close to "Kamikazes" of my youth. Cool, limey and potent.

Or... if NTOP is giving away free beers or white wine next door, it tastes pretty good, too.

I'm making a big batch of margaritas tomorrow...for some fun on the deck. Sangria of some sort is also in the rotation.

Other than actually going to Natrona itself, which is where my Dad gets it, they have carried it in the Giant Eagle Market District store in Wexford. There is a candy shop on Beaver's main street that carries it. I'm not sure where else.

Awesome. That Market District is close.

Miller Lite. I know ... it isn't a cocktail. But it's also good in the Fall, Winter or Spring.

margaritas, sangria, and seasonal craft beers like Victory summer love.

I drink beer more than drinks, but I do love a good Moscow Mule.

Sam Summer is one of my favorite beers and I will certainly enjoy some of that this Summer.

Nothing fancy for me, just some unspiced light rum, tonic, and a wedge of lime. Since it's now Happy Hour, think I'll have one now. Cheers!

When I start getting tired of my Vodka and tonic. Nothing beats a splash of Bird Dog Blackberry Whiskey on the rocks on a hot Summer night.

Had Moscow mules in the Caribbean recently in these very nice Sertodo copper mugs. Keeps the drink super cold and gives it a unique taste as well.

Pretty much the ideal midday drink on a boat in the Caribbean.

Depending on the weather, I either go with a Negroni (gin, Campari, & vermouth), or if it's really hot, a Caipirinha (fresh squeezed lime juice, sugar, and Cachaca (a Brazilian rum).

Cruzer

I like most rum & tequila drinks.

One of my favorites is a Paloma. In a tall glass - over ice - combine 1-part tequila with 3-parts Squirt (or another grapefruit-flavored soda). Top with a twist of lime. Enjoy!

A good Vodka or Gin and Tonic is my first choice. When I need a change I get a splash of Bird Dog Blackberry Whiskey out of the freezer and have it on the rocks. It makes a nice change up.
