OT: for Marvel Geeks

Always the progressive.
The Progressives also loved the Valkyrie character from the Thor movie and are undoubtedly excited for her return in the MCU. I just found her to be dull and lack charisma. I hope her character evolves in a positive way...like the Thor character did.

As far as Mahershala Ali, his name offends me.

She was funny in Ragnorak- when she was a drunken scrapper- that’s about it .
She’s no Korg

I remember some folks overstating her appeal. Ski may have been one of them. I’m not sure if she was miscast or if the writing wasn’t good. Either way, as they did with Hemsworth, they showed that they can tweak their characters to make them more appealing and interesting.

I have to skew this thread back away from politics.

I love the Thor announcement, but just don’t see how it leaves room for a Guardians 3 before it. That’s disappointing to me.

What point are you making here, Owtie? That it's progressive to be happy a talented actor is filling a role?

You are trying way too hard. Nothing is worse than a bad troll.
I thought it was funny. Let’s move on!!

I don't recall that. I didn't have a problem with her, but I wouldn't necessarily say she was the highlight of Ragnarok.

I don't know. I think there are a lot of ways they could work Thor into Guardians in a way that leaves room for Jane Foster to become worthy to wield Mjolnir in Thor 4.

Personally, I really, really, really hope they introduce Beta Ray Bill in Thor 4.

There are some announced projects before Thor 4...but Asgaurdians doesn’t seem to fit the timeline. Hope I’m wrong.

He could also be introduced in Guardians 3.

I am curious who they will cast as the guy in the cocoon at the end of Guardians 2. What’s his name (I’m not a comic book guy)? I’ve been hearing that they are trying to find a prominent role for Keanu Reeves in the MCU, and I read that could be it.

I just can't generate the same level of enthusiasm for TV shows vs. a movie and many of these will be on Disney+.

There will never be another arc of films like we just witnessed culminating in Endgame.

Nothing more than I was just being a jaggoff. Like Souf usually is. Yeah it was a bad troll, at least I can admit that. Personally, I can't wait for Hollywood to move on from this phase and actually try and come up with new stories and ideas for movies. The horse has been beat and rode hard. But hey, that's just me. To each their own for entertainment.

Yeah. I’m not sure about that. The brand still prints money. And not just money...but serious money/billions of coin.

Endgame, which was like the 23rd movie in the franchise, just overtook Avatar as the #1 movie ever worldwide. So there aren’t any signs of slowing down. Think about that. The 23rd movie in a franchise generated more revenue than any of the previous 22. This isn’t like Disney trying to suck as much as they can out of a franchise like they did with Pirates of the Carribbean for example. I loved POTC, but the franchise, and Jack Sparrow, were stale by the end. If anything, Marvel is gaining steam. If that’s even possible.

Plus, Disney looks like they are switching gears a bit and going in a different direction with the films. I don’t think they’re at a point that the need to worry about staying fresh...but every indication is that they are.

She was great in Raganrok ...

Thor the first film I have to admit was kinda... not dull but searching for a direction but they quickly figured out a good one. Captain Marvel was similar although literally the character spent 90% of the film trying to solve her own background & origin so that made sense. Captain America just had a rough time fitting in which was a good continued narrative.

Raganrok was/is one of my all time favorites of the MCU...

I LOL about people not watching or invested in following the storylines complaining about Hollywood moving on though... and that includes Spielberg or Cameron ...

With all of the "snaps" that happened, it's hard to say what was undone and what wasn't. Plus some of this could end up "pre" Endgame. If we know anything about the Marvel Universe, they don't seem to have a problem jumping around in the timeline.

So it was you and not Ski! My bad. Heard she’s going to be searching for her Queen in Thor 4. How fun.

Looks as though Marvel has a road map already built out for 5 years. That crazy. These guys are the best in the business. Feige said he knows what the next group of avengers will look like but it’s a ways away. It will consist of characters we already know and characters we don’t yet know.
