OT: Franklin wants cupcakes

It is, though. Look at who Syracuse played two years ago when they finished ranked. In a world where your nobody really cares about who you beat, it doesn't make sense to overextend yourself. It's just garbage for anyone around the PSU program to not acknowledge that fact and move on.
Time must be flying by for you. They finished ranked in 2018, not two years ago (and I agree, pollsters did not punish them for a weak schedule -- Sagarin ratings said they should have been ranked 28th, not 15th like the AP.) But fwiw went 5-7, 1-10, and 5-7 after that. It's hard to just flip a sort of fluky 10 win season into good recruiting I think. They are playing 10 P5 teams this year, basically pretty standard schedule.

That strategy worked wonders for cuse a few years back. I have no reply there. It worked well for them and made a very mediocre team appear good.

unfortunately for them, they couldnt capitolize on their 'Smoke and mirrors' success.
Couldn't repeat it, at least.

The ACC is sort of tied at the hip with the SEC due to some of the rivalries that schools don't want to give up. That might keep both conferences at 8 games. I think you'll see a push by ESPN to get OOC games schedule between the two. Some of the best televised games on the OOC slate have been ACC vs SEC matchups, so far. Honestly, it's not a bad idea. Better than playing a ranked AAC school and it never hurts to get a lot of eyes on your program.

The years are starting to run together.

I don't think it helps recruiting to just have an outlier season. I think you have to string them together AND have the other things kids want. But Syracuse probably won't ever be a preferred recruiting destination for FL or GA kids. No more so than Pitt. Still have to put it together and win.
