I am not even going into lists. But favorite song of all time. I was thinking of this, and I guess it is your last moment song, the song you would want most to see played live, the song you probably listened to more than any other song (on your own, not just because of the radio playing it 100 times.....etc.....)

I really didn't have to think long and hard for this one. Not at all. Easy choice for me. Great to start. Great through the years......

I grew up with these guys......

-- Purple Rain.

-- Thunder road is a good one

-- juicy

-- beast of burden

-- who let the dogs out,

(Last one is a joke)

Lot of old guys here.

Ill be dat - Redman. Quality video also.

I can't come up with only 1. But Stairway to Heaven would be pretty high on the list, mainly because of the changes that the song goes through. Light start, middle that hits more of a classic rock groove, then the hard rock finale. Tough to beat the craftsmanship on display. Although Thunder Road and Layla come close due to their unforgettable codas.

I have pleasant memories of being in a bar at Va. Beach amidst cute Southern chicks the year that song came out and it playing, much to my pleasure, over and over. it's amazing how certain songs evoke certain memories.

I have to say, reading these responses is really interesting. For me, it's impossible to pick just one song so I'm going to go by genre.

Classical

Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade

Berlioz - Marche au Supplice

Jazz

Chick Corea Elektric Band - Mistress Luck: A Party

Hiromi Uehara - XYZ

Hip Hop

Outkast - Elevators (Me & You)

Kanye West - Through the Wire

Rock

Led Zeppelin - Ten Years Gone (If I had to pick only one, it'd be this one)

Tool - Vicarious

I think I'll stop here. This list is getting too long!

The weight, uncle john's band, suite: judy blue eyes, day in the life, hey joe, jungle land, good vibrations, la lonesome cowboy

It's actually not an easy task to come up with favorite song of all time. For me, it's genre specific.

Rock: Locomotive Breath, Jethro Tull, Stairway to Heaven, Led Zepplin

Female Rock: Piece of My Heart, Janis Joplin

Love Song: I Can't Make You Love Me, Bonnie Raitt

Crooner: They Can't Take That Away From Me, Tony Bennett

Haha …...Overachiever!

Well played…….I raise you

Funk -
Higher Ground Stevie Wonder and Superstition

Folk
- Carefree Highway and Summer Side of Life
