And that is exactly why I will not pay to see them ...
Lmao 🤣😂The Pirates are the "Gabes" of professional baseball.
I don't like Nutting. He let a good team die on the vine after the 2015 season. But this current team should have an extremely low payroll as it's a full rebuild. No sense in spending money now (though they will need to spend some to fill out the roster).
Right but when that has been the excuse for 25 of the last 28 or so seasons they should expect the cynicism.
That won't be the case when the season opens but I get your point.

I am not sure that is all Pirates. Every other pro league can have a salary cap (and consequently a salary floor) but MLB won't. I have a feeling a serious lockout is around the corner and there wont be 2022 season.

One of the best lines ever on this message board ... much appreciated wit.The Pirates are the "Gabes" of professional baseball.
What I mean is the Pirates will add salary in the form of some free agents before the season. Of course their payroll will still be in the bottom quarter of the league and will probably settle in at 60 mill or so. It will increase every year as the young guys gain experience. How high it goes is the problem.Yeah, it looks like that number only includes guys who have gone through the arbitration process (or past that, which the Pirates only have one guy), because those contracts are guaranteed. But the Pirates only have 11 guys like that. Which means you really need to add at least 15 guys at the major league minimum to that number. Which would get them to around $39 million.
Which is embarrassing enough on it's own. No need to exaggerate the number to make it seem worse.

They will NEVER spend the money, wake up, good lord, people are so damn gullible
I just don’t think they have much incentive to
