OT: Hotels around Pittsburgh and hanging out

Lawrenceville is a good choice for going out too. More of a crowd than downtown but with less amateur drunks and tough guys than South Side. But if you stay there, an Airbnb is probably the way to go. There aren't any hotels in Lawrenceville proper.
I don’t know if it has an opening date, but Wyndham is putting the finishing touches on a Tryp hotel in the old Washington Education Building on 40th and Butler. That’ll be the first hotel in the neighborhood.

there are about 2000 hotels in shadyside, Oakland, east liberty area.. a 6 dollar uber ride from Lawrenceville..

The comment was about staying "in that neighborhood". Obviously uber is an option. But if planning a trip with a bunch of friends, an Airbnb isn't a bad idea to stay together and save money - assuming you don't care about turn-down service and mints on the pillow.

The Westin or Courtyard by the Convention Center is a good option, there's a decent amount of bars/restaurants on or near Penn Avenue. None of the insanity of the South Side and the options aren't as cookie cutter and/or corporate like the North Shore.

What a lot of people forget about Uber or any ride to and from the Northshore on gameday isn't fun.
Some Ubers won't take that trip because they get stuck in traffic going in and there's not a lot of business going out on gameday.
