This is a once in a lifetime event. Tropical system in California or staying fully tropical that far north are unheard of. The last one was 1939 and it’s tough to know whether that was fully tropical.

To show how rare it is, this is the first time a tropical storm watch has EVER been raised for the California coast. The biggest problem is going to be rain in the interior. Some of the desert areas could we triple the rain they do in a year. There is a concern of the salton sea flooding some of the agricultural areas in the imperial valley, which puked wreck the soil in those areas.

In any case, a truly amazing event.
