Softball team is doing well. The coach Holly Aprile has brought the team along the past
ten years. She's used the ACC membership to actually improve the program (so unlike
the women's basketball program). I don't follow softball, but I do know she's beating
ranked teams in the conference. She's obviously recruiting very good players.
Unlike some of our newer coaches we're excited about, this coach has been here
through the reign of two disastrous ADs and somehow has improved the program.
She's one Pitt should be supporting....my guess is Lyke is on top of it.
Ok, so it's pretty well established that we can recruit at an ACC level in softball.
Baseball is also doing well. As a northeastern team recruiting against established southern baseball teams we have a huge task. Both of these coaches have been here awhile and have successfully elevated their programs despite joining a very, very tough ACC.
Hopefully they'll set a pattern for others...if not Lyke will more than"lykley"
dump them.
