Not going to overstate the obvious but the Steelers have a huge problem if they have to rely on Jones for a quarter or more. Not sure what other options are out there but I can't imagine the team heading into Week #1 without trying to improve that position.

Injury prone at OU and wasted Draft Pick over 4 years ago, and Steeler's just can't seem to find a good Back-Up to Big Ben, Jones outright stinks and it shows, i don't recall any Great QB coming out of OU for The NFL? Troy Aikman transfer out!

Not since Charlie Batch, he was great backup for about 6-7 years.

I love listening to Batch Analysis as well, he seems to be high on this Big QB Vaughn? How the Steeler's let Hoyer that was adequate go and did not sign Noles as back up is a mystery. But they know and see more than me.

I like Tomlin, he does not get enough credit for making some great Player Personnel moves in other areas, but others can differ.

Twitter reports on him during practice makes me wonder if this guy had a plan to get paid then was going to lay down. That position is in God awful shape right now.

I'd give Vaughan a year on the Practice Squad just to see what he's all about. I wouldn't judge him by yesterday's performance, since he was playing with the jabronies.

But Yeah, Landry Jones has had plenty of opportunities to show what he can do, and unfortunately for him, he showed what he couldn't do.

As far as the Steelers being cheap, they compete within the salary cap waaay better than most teams. They may have "gone cheap" on the stadium, but they pay their players the going rate without crippling the team's depth in the process.

He's missed 8 games in the past 5 years so that's pretty much in-line with his career average. Frankly, take away the 4 suspension games and he's missed about one game per season. Carson Palmer, McNabb, Tony Romo, and Matt Stafford all missed more games on a per-game basis and nobody gives them hell. Injuries are part of the game.

Does he really do this? I never remember seeing this ever happen.. A tad before my time but Bradshaw admitted to sometimes over exaggerating an injury, only to have a miraculous recovery.. Im sure a lot of athletes have done this.

Denver was pretty convinced his shoulder was fine after leaving on the meat wagon against Cincy, then nearly getting AB killed, the week before. That's the most recent example but if you talk to fans from other clubs (who seem to pay a lot of attention to old Ben) they point it out all the time.

Actually, he averages 90% (or 14.4 in a 16 game regular season) of starts and that includes the 4 game suspension. Also, "investing in backup QBs" is continually proven to be one of the dumbest decisions a franchise can make. They are almost never worth the draft pick or high dollar veteran investment. Basically, if you aren't picking in the top 20 in the draft you have essentially no chance of finding a decent QB.
