Not sure what to think - choker Garcia in the lead? Yikes. Should be a great day of golf. Can't wait.

I wouldn't mind seeing any of the 3 UNLV guys win, but I put a few bucks on Justin Rose at +350 on the adjusted odds.

Choker Sergio and choker Charlie Hoffman????
Think your man Scott maybe, Fowler, Spieth, and Ryan Moore ( when he's hot he's real good). He was the top ranked amateur in the country when he played college golf just didn't hit on all cylinders as a pro. He was great in the Ryder Cup!

Wish Scott could figure out how to wear sunglasses correctly over the ears. Next time you see him put his sunglasses on correctly!

Hope Justin Rose finds lots of lakes, streams, and woods today!

Should be great today. Lots of people in the hunt. I wouldn't mind seeing Sergio or Ricky get the monkey off their backs. I also think though Speith is going to tough and relentless, this is his 4th Masters, and this is the 4th Sunday he is either in the last group or next to last. He owns this course and if it wasn't for the Quad on 12 last year, he would have won it, and it if it wasn't for the opening day Quad on 15 this year, he would be comfortably in the lead.

Shame Phil after starting out birdie/birdie just collapsed. Also would have loved to see Couples at least start today at -2.

Should be fun.

Phil is either banging it off cartpaths or sticking it 3 ft from the hole??? Mr Excietment!
Not sure if anyone watched the Feherty show with Phil but its a must see! How Phil's golf mind works is scary!

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am not a big fan of Phil. Not sure why, but I never have been.

I liked Phil when he was younger but I don't rout for any "older" player even though I'm an "older" guy.
I like to see the young guys tear it up not an older golfer " backing in" to a win! That the only way they can win if all the others go "off the rails."

Hello friends. I suppose the competition will be good, but I can't get past the barf-inducing reverence for the course. Reinstate Jack Whitaker!

Or the piped in bird chirping. LOL. But I still love it.

That's fine. It takes all kinds. I always liked him and I consider him on the level of my "Pittsburgh" rooting interests in far as he is my team in golf. Just like me not liking Zach Johnson, I just don't.

My first post on this in another thread the other day. I am probably as cynical and sarcastic as anyone on these forums......but I hear that piano music lead in and it just reels me in. I know it is overboard with hokiness, but I love it nonetheless.

Not me. Phil still can go low and compete, he still has the length and imagination and shots. But how could you not root for Freddy? Or Tom Watson a few years back at the Open? Jack's win in 1986 is what hooked me on the Masters. And I wouldn't mind seeing Sergio win, I guess he is"old" now at 36.

But this young group is really good, and golf is lucky, Rory, Speith, Day, Rose and DJ have majors already and likely will have multiple majors, rooting for Ricky Fowler to break through and make the list. And guys like Rahm, Pieters, etc....the game is in good hands.

What I never liked is seeing some lucky hack have a good couple of days like a Rich Beem or Shaun Mickeel or Ben Curtis....I always root against those guys.

Not to mention Americans Reed, Justin Thomas, Koepka, Henley, Berger, lots of bright lights out there on the horizon for US PGA golf.

But the sports needs a few transcendents. Tiger. Phil. Jack. Tom. Arnie. Rory has that chance. DJ has the game. Speith I think has that ability. I really think Jon Rahm has that ability. If Fowler wins today, he has the personality and now the Major to really start getting mainstream pub.

The sport needs some rivalries like Tiger /Sergio, Tiger /McElroy, Phil/Tiger, Phil/McElroy
Nicklaus/Palmer, Palmer/Watson.

Ok its time. Someone needs to throw the rubber chicken at Sergio!
But they screen for rubber chickens at the Masters or any other US tourney when Garcia is playing!

Actually that piano lead in and the like makes me cringe. The attitude that this tournament is akin to a religious experience of some sort is very arrogant and aloof. This is why I like the US Open better.

It is for some golf fans like me! Its a special place and a special tournament!
But the piano music and bird sounds are to creat a relaxing atmosphere rather than religious.
The US Open is held at public golf courses at times like Bethpage Black. I like all the tournaments but this one is different!
I believe if you polled the players this is special for them too!

Yep. Was just coming back to say...maybe not.
Yep that's golf LOL!
That's why they call it golf???
It was looking like an oh sh-t for Garcia he sratched out a par after taking a penalty stoke and scores a birdie and an eagle???
Golf!
I don't rout for either of them but its great golf.
Still stroke play but for these guys its Match play now! Love to watch or play match play!

Really happy for Sergio. Was rooting really hard for him. He is a good dude by all accounts and I will tell you this, no more classy guy than Justin Rose either. Easy to root for either guy. But good for Sergio. Really popular win.

Still not fond of the guy, but great ending.

Yea. Same.

Don't agree at all that he's a good dude by all accounts. He's behaved weirdly and very poorly on any number of occasions. And that's just what we've witnessed and/or is public.

Maybe he's finally grown up a bit.

Cant stand Sergio, or Rose, add in Pieters, Schwarzl, Day and Scott.
The Beef will play next week maybe?
Wife and I ignored the golfers and just watched the really good golf!
Next week more golf at the RBC Heritage in Harbourtown Hilton Head a really nice course on the water. A lot of the big names skip it and that's why its fun to watch.

Exciting end to the Masters. Glad Garcia won and that last put went in. If he needed the next put it would have been anticlimactic.

Why would you not want to watch the best players? It is like saying I like watching baseball, but I root against the Dominicans and Venezuelans, or "I can't wait for the hockey playoffs, but I don't root for the Russian players".

Weird.

I had $$ on Rose, but was happy to see Sergio win. That said, Rose really gave it away, as any of his short putts on 11 (to go up 3), 17, or even 18 probably seal the deal. But give Sergio credit, he hung in there after the lateral hazard, despite a shaky flat stick himself.

It's amazing how Sergio has become a fan favorite. I'm sure it's mostly due to the story line (best to have not won a major), but I think some of it is due to Tiger's demise, as Sergio used to be Tiger's (and the public's) whipping boy.
