OT: Masters

Yeah I do think there is something to this. But let's also not forget guys like Phil and Reed have won here before, so obviously they like the course. And for all of his goofy ways, Mickelson becomes a different being in Majors. Let's not forget he won the PGA just two years ago at age 50. So while there may have been no pressure, Mickelson was pretty much within the top 10 all tourney long.
Phil also checks out mentally when he’s no longer in contention.

So that’s a lame comment to say he played well because there was “no pressure”. Then why were Spieth and Phil 6 and 7 under respectively, while no one else made a push yesterday?

I hated Phil pre LIV. .... I did not know a LIV guy won the thing, so congrats to that tour......this isn't like a AFL-NFL kind of thing as these guys were all on the same tour 12 months ago..LIV guys can go back to grabbing their Saudi money and being not watched on the CW with tiny galleries for another month or so...
Last I saw the LIV Orlando event had quite a crowd.

You virtue signalers act like Saudi money is something unlike the rest of the world. Our government has done some nasty things, like start wars in that region. It was a big media production to try to put out the fire before the tour even began. The players don’t even care, and they speak on that. I mean even Rory who’s been the most outspoken played a practice round with Brooks this week and congratulated him on his Orlando victory.

It’s a simple fact. There’s a reason why the Lowest rounds of Sunday were by players who were 10 shots out of the lead.

Leaders arent going for the green on 13/15 in 2. They aren’t going at pins on many of the greens because of the risk. It’s a different game and plan for guys on the leaderboard. Not surprising you can’t grasp this. It’s the same reason that Phil has choked so many times on the big stage, he always played reckless. Sometimes it works, many times it doesn’t.

Was gonna copy a link about how bad Saudi Arabia human rights are today. It's actually way worse over last few years than previous 20. But I don't often see links copied on here.

I'm glad someone saw it.....If you think this is good for the game and the fans, good for you. I do not.

btw, our "evil", comparable to the Saudis, government is not financially backing any sport league payrolls..

a tad shocking ratings were that high. the last 5-6 holes were a tad anti-climactic with it being decided with Rahm up 4 strokes..

it was easter sunday though, not much else to do but watch golf.
Some of us actually played. But yeah tiger may be popular player for nostalgia reasons (like Jack and Arnie befoee him and hell Daley still draws huge galleries) but there are so many great players that the competition makes the tourneys compelling to watch

one thing no one talked about is how damn slow the cantley / hovland group was. usually tv viewers dont pick up on it but even on tv, they were crawling along while Rahm and Brooks seemed to be waiting every shot..

Surprised Brooks didnt go off on that, it had to have screwed them up..

It was Cantlay only - Hovland isn’t slow. Cantlay is horrendously slow. And I don’t know what you follow but I’ve heard it talked about a lot. I don’t know if it was mentioned on the broadcast so if that’s what you mean I’ll defer.

Sam Bennett was also snail like.

Until they enforce the rules and asses penalty strokes it isn’t gonna change.

Yes Bennett was definitely noticeable. I understand when there are really gusty winds, players taking their time or even backing off shots. But some of these guys, I mean it is your job, you kind of know what club and type of shot you are going to hit as soon as the previous shot comes to a stop.

yeah, bennett did the foot re-step about 8-9 times in his pre-shot routine.. was pretty frustrating to watch. almost like a quirk or mental thing.. i remember sergio used to do that early in his career with his club but i think he actually want to a psychiatrist lol to work on it..

Well that’s the thing. They have enough information that they don’t need to wait for the previous shot to come to a stop. It isn’t like when we play - they walk ahead to their balls and slide off to the side. They could be getting prepared while whoever is away is doing their thing. There is absolutely no reason for some guys to be as slow as they are.

It may be my imagination but it seemed to be he became much more deliberate in the last round. Didn’t watch the entire time but the first few holes it seemed obviously to me the moment finally caught up to him and he was thinking more than just playing

He was fairly deliberate, but yeah it got worse obviously as his play got worse. Certainly he started to feel it.

These guys were already generationally wealthy

Not all of them, I read an article about a guy bouncing around Europe and Asia and lost his PGA card. joined LIV just for the $15 million bonus they gave him. Some of those bigger names got $100 million plus, In this world, the way it is, I couldn't turn it down. I worked a lifetime and can barely claim 7 figures total.
