Looks like some of you might want to take your cats out of your online dating profiles. Here’s some valuable dating tips...men with cats in their profiles are less desirable to women, even though women feel men with pets are more desirable. Trust the science guys.

I’ll avoid the obvious double entendre for the moment.

What about ferrets?
This is for people here of a certain age, they will get it.

This morning I was actually thinking about cats and how handy they are when it comes to rodents in your yard.

I've come across dead snakes and rats over the years, while mowing the lawn. They were cat casualties. Cats are great assets in that aspect.

They do an amazing job on snakes but my neighbor's "hobby farm" rat population would overrun the neighborhood if I didn't keep cats outside. All are strays that decided my garage was a pretty nice place to hang out.

FWIW - obviously not dating, but I instantly like any man that's secure enough to own a cat, given the silly reputation that men should own dogs not cats. They're great pets and anyone who thinks they aren't obviously has never owned one.

I'm a huge animal lover - dogs, cats, birds, etc. and they're obviously all different, so I get a bit salty about this subject.

As usual JMO.

I watched a movie the other day...THE COURAGEOUS HEART OF IRENA SANDLER...
One of the great lines in that sobering tale was uttered by a wife to her husband.
“When I give you my opinion, it is not a suggestion.”

I love my 3 cats. Dogs are nice, but they are a high maintenance pain in the ass, cats on the other had clean themselves, don't need you to walk them in an ice storm and are born knowing where to poop, and yeah they'll take out rodents or snakes if need be. Cats are a little smaller, but actually more bad ass than most dogs, often dogs are sorry they tried messing with cats.

We just had a conversation the other day about men with dogs who refuse to fix their male dog even though they have no intention of breeding them. It’s like some kind of masculinity thing. I’m not sure what the reason is. If the dog doesn’t need fixed, then ok. But if the dog is ornery and has some kind of behavioral issue, then what is the downside of settling him down a bit? I have one dog with testicles and one dog without them and I can securely say both dogs are awesome. And the one without testicles is the most athletic living being that I’ve ever seen. While my dog with testicles would be the kid in the outfield picking dandelions if he were human.

My dog Rose is low maintenance. High octane and loves us madly.

I have two dogs, both females. That's another thing I never understood, like male dogs are more masculine to own than female. My dogs are pretty much hilarious in everything they do.

Stereotypes are strong things for people to break.

Regardless of the stereotype.

Do your cats bark late at night when people you don’t invite try to get into your home?

My cats actually make more of a fuss when someone shows up. They growl and take up defensive positions like they rehearse the drill. Get super stressed. They seem to notice little things that dogs ignore. Dog just goes to see if it can get more attention or a treat.

That's no a concern for me, it's the same reason why I've never owned a gun, as has nobody in my immediate family ever. I'm not against guns, but really owning one never crossed my mind, and Nobody has ever tried to get into my home, it's never happened not even once, I'm not trembling in fear of home invasion like most of you. LMFAO, But my cats do make noise when the hear sounds.

It does make it clear though, if I ever do use a dating site in the future, I would definitely feature my cats. Better to weed them out early than waste time with A-hole women that don't like cats.

Yeah and for you, it’s admirable for you to show the women who you are upfront. It’s like a guy who is honest enough to state in his profile that he has herpes and halitosis.
;).

Btw, I don’t think it’s entirely indicative of women’s overall opinion of cats...but more about their opinion of a man who chooses to put a cat in his profile. I thought that was pretty clear.

I knew a guy that used a picture of someone else as a profile picture. Any woman that hates cats is fkd up, they're, good, smart animals, self reliant, independent, and loyal nowhere near as needy and high maintenance as dogs. I've owned both, I've come to the conclusion that cats are just more mature minded, they're like adults, dogs are like needy kids, I prefer a pet that can mostly take are of itself.

IAny woman that hates cats is fkd up,
Or you know, maybe she’s allergic? Or simply has an opinion? You do understand there is no right or wrong here, right? It’s like you and I like soccer and others do not. It doesn’t make them fkd up.

I don't like pets at all, too much work/time to take care of pets the correct way. Too many people think that means I don't like animals, but on the contrary, I do like animals , and I know people whose pets, while not abused, seem neglected most of the time because they have little time to spend with them or train them, etc.

You'd be happier with a cat then. Cats are more independent and self reliant. They need very little training. They do like some attention, but not over the top. I have worked from home for almost a year now, and if it wasn't for these cats I'd be alone 90% of the time. They can be annoying, but also companions, and fun too.

We have this female kitten, 7 months old, she loves basketball, she will sit in front of the TV and it's hilarious how you see her head tracking the ball anywhere it goes.

I had a friend who's wife had two ferrets.

The ferrets liked to play with their cat, and were fun to watch.

BUT, they stink. BAD. HORRIBLE smelling creatures.

Fun Fact: In the states of California and Hawaii, it's illegal to own one as a pet.
In 50 or 100 years it might be deemed offensive by some to own pets, any pets, and a quick dig through a dating profile, Twitter or Facebook page might provide the evidence needed to cancel someone.
