Ok not that most will be interested, but let’s say you’re interested in buying a women’s pro soccer team. Care to guess what it would cost you?

Does 110 million sound like a lot? That’s what Denver just paid to secure an expansion team in the NWSL.

I’m sure that’s 110 million more than SMF would pay. But it just struck me as a lot.

I don’t see Tuffy Shallenberger or Dan Rooney bringing a women’s team to Pittsburgh any time soon.

I love women’s soccer but that seems like a ridiculous expansion fee for a group to pay. The NWSL is gaining popularity and I’m sure its business affairs are much better than they were 5 years ago but that was a shocker.

Lol I just read my post. I don’t think Dan Rooney will be doing much of anything these days.

I couldn't believe that. Good for them but I dont see how you can make money after that type of investment. The franchise fee for MLS's Orlando City was just $70 million in 2013. They sold it in 2021 for $450 million. San Diego FC paid $500 million. They have Chuky Lozano coming in. They are going to play at the newish San Diego State stadium which is perfect for MLS. Wished Pgh would do the same for a Pitt/MLS stadium.
