I had an eye exam at UPMC St. Margaret's this morning and as I came out of one of the rooms there was a picture of Oakland on the wall, one that I had never seen before. I took a picture of it with my phone but with it being such a narrow hallway I couldn't get all of it straight on. I was unable to ask anyone about it but perhaps next time so I thought I'd ask here if anyone is familiar with it. Is it a common print? Thanks.

I don't think it is a common print, but I think I can date that to the summer of 1994.

The two tell tale indicators that most precisely date this are
1) Biomedical Center Tower 2 (or South) structure is completed. The shell of that building was completed by the summer of 1994, and
2) the gold painted endzone walls in Pitt Stadium. It was repainted blue beginning with the 1994 season so it was likely taken in the summer (also see the leaves on trees) before the fall football season.

look how far the stands are away from the field. one of my biggest complaints on pitt stadium.. damn track and field.

I wonder though if you were sitting in the top row at the 50-yard line at Pitt Stadium, would you be closer to the field than the top row at the 50-yard line at Heinz Field because of the upper sideline tiers? I'd think so, you're certainly not as high up so the distance from the field would be less.

Cool picture.
One thing that picture helps dramatize is what a massive footprint Pitt Stadium took up in Oakland. And it didn't have a lick of parking.
Both Forbes Fields and Pitt Stadium were designed and built in between city streets. If you had room for a sidewalk between the stadiums and the street, you were good. Parking and traffic access were never considered, because no almost no one had cars when these facilities were conceived.

my how times have changed. pitt basically took over land and made forbes field go away. now, we cant even get rid of a 300' stretch of bigelow.
