OT: On team colors.. which combos do you find ugly?

The absolute BEST Pirates uniform.
Better than this?

Those aren’t uniforms, they’re costumes. This is hands-down the best uniform the Pirates have ever worn. This should be their permanent uniform always.

It is sharp and clean and classic and simple. It’s also traditional and dignified looking. This would be one of the best looking uniforms in baseball and one of the most distinctive uniforms in baseball.

They used this look as the basis of the new uniforms for the move from 3Rivers to PNC Park in 2001. Too bad those teams were completely forgettable and they thought that the introduction of red as a third color/alternate was a good idea.

Don't forget about Chris Sale getting sent home for cutting up to his entire ChiSox team's throwback uniforms in the locker room so that he didn't have to pitch while wearing them...

Agreed on all counts. I LOVED those unis. However, the addition of red was...uh...deeply unfortunate.

Aside from the Vikings, the color purple matched with any other color than gold is horrible. Va Tech, KState, the Ravens are abysmal, I can tolerate Clemson's I guess.

Maulers unis were sweet. Tough to pull off purple and orange, mike rozier made it look silly.

IIRC, Ted Kluszuski wore this style uniform without a shirt underneath, to show his biceps. That is badass.

I think what makes the sleeveless so terrific is the traditional colors

That's why when the pirates, or reds roll these out they are beautiful.

When the Rockies or Marlins come out in purple or turquoise sleeveless it looks rather ridiculous.

Sorry, not a fan of those Whalers unis at all. Green usually sucks. The Eagles and Edmonton Eskimoes of the 80's looked cool to me though. I also really liked the Pgh Gladiators unis.

The Celtics, Yankees, PSU, Maple Leafs are all ugly but their histories make them cool.

I agree on the eagles 80s green (kelly green I think?). Eagles current green sucks. The black trend of the late 90s and 2000s appears to be thankfully at an end.

Again, at least football wise, but if a team (pro or college) existed back in the 70's, pretty much that period around 1978, 1980, 1982, that is your best look, your best uniforms.

We all know the abysmal Oregon Ducks unis of today, but look at this.

NFL.......Best: Raiders, Worst: Tampa Bay
NBA....... Best: Celtics and Sixers, Worst: Everyone else
NHL....... Best: BlackHawks, Worst: Ducks
MLB........ Best: Tigers (home); Worst: Diamondbacks
NCAA FB...... Best: Pitt in throwbacks, Ohio State; Worst: Miami of Florida (awful colors)

I mostly with you. However, I think there are some far worse CFB uniforms than Miami

Yeah, I think those white jerseys with white helmets and orange pants are particularly sharp looking.

Yeah, they definitely were. I think a lot of Adidas’ uniforms are really hideous looking. I don’t know who designs them, but their shirts always look ill fitting and poorly constructed. Conversely, the Nike jerseys always look clean and classic. It’s a striking difference in quality.

Green is a color that isn’t used enough in sports. The green 80s Hartford Whalers jerseys are fantastic. Also, teams that stick to traditional unis have my respect (Yanks, Montreal Canadiens etc).
The old Quebec Nordiques were terrific!!!
