Pete Carroll is obviously a great coach. His record speaks for itself. However, he just called an absolutely moronic fake FG before the end of the first half of their game against Atlanta.
The Falcons are up seven in a game both teams need to have. Points are definitely going to be important in this game. It definitely looks like a game that’s going to be close down the stretch.
However, Seattle inexplicably ran a fake field goal from near the 20 yard line with like four seconds left in the half.
Atlanta easily blew up the play - which was a shovel pass to their tight end.
What makes it such a terrible call is even if the play works and the guy gets the first down, the clock was STILL going to expire. Surely they didn’t think the tight end was going to run the full 20 yards for a touchdown?
Look, I am all for aggressive play calling but that was just plain dumb.
The Seahawks now need to step up take him off the hook. If they lose this game by three points or less, and remember they are in absolute dog fight to make the playoffs, he’s going to be wearing some big time goat horns.
That was just an exceptionally stupid decision and you don’t often see that level of idiocy in the NFL. Les Miles used to do crazy shit like that all the time when he was at LSU. However, that’s not the type of mistake one would typically see in the NFL.
