The Pirates are obviously infuriating, but I grew up loving baseball and watching and following them religiously even though Ive only been alive for about 5 winning seasons (I was still in the single digit age bracket in the early 90s).
I also loved following the minor league affiliates and prospects. I came across a site about 7 or 8 years ago that provides the best and most in depth pirates and minor league affiliate prospect coverage ever. Usually good for 4-5 articles a day and some great in depth analysis and unique viewpoints. Unfortunately that site, Pirates Prospects owned by Tim Williams, sounds like it is really struggling. I think people are (rightfully) pissed with ownership and the past couple of seasons and unfortunately that’s really hurt the site. It’s currently a subscription model ($100 got me a 3 year subscription and I think it’s only about $40 if you go the yearly route) and in my view the quality and quantity of the content basically pays for itself in about a month.
Anyway, just wanted to give the site a plug in case anyone was interested and because I would hate to see such a great site shut down (Rivlas and Pirates Prospects hands down provide the best coverage of my favorite two teams and help me get through each day). Link to an article describing the sites situation and to the site itself/subscription details is below.
