April, May, and September games will start at 6:35. I'd expect a fair amount of fans to be allowed in so I don't think this is just pandemic-related. With the shift towards working from home, more people can attend these 6 or 6:30 games. Hope to see ESPN and the ACC move more in this direction as well. We should never have another 9PM home game.

The Indians have been doing that for a few years for April & May games. I’ve enjoyed it. Temperatures may have something to do with it but I like being able to get home from work and basically have a game almost starting.

It's not pandemic related at all. They are doing it because games keep running later and later and people with families don't want to be out at a game on a school night until well past 10:00. Which is the reason why they are doing it in April, May and September but not in June, July or August.

Note, however, that they most certainly did not take your advice, unless you are going to argue that 6:30 is in the middle of the afternoon.

No one takes more credit for getting predictions right that didn't actually happen than you. You are like those guys on those old football tout shows that they used to have on television who would claim that their 5 star super de duper blockbuster lockof the week picks were hitting at a 93% rate on the season.

Although they probably found more suckers to believe them than you ever have.

Here’s a novel idea...how about fixing the game? There’s probably not a sport I enjoyed playing more growing up than baseball...but the sport is inherently boring to watch these days and the game is just not interesting anymore as constructed.

The old Stu Feiner videos are classic.

Should probably institute like a 30 second "pitch clock." Pitchers dont need more than that to go through signs, fix their sleeves, adjust their belt, etc.

Don’t they have that already?? I haven’t watched a baseball game in a couple years. In any event, they need to get the game under two hours like soccer and college hoops.

I dont think. I think they put clocks in for other things such as inning breaks, mound conferences, etc. The most important would be the pitch clock.

Good article about pitch clocks and how a game in 1984 and 2019 with the same exact score and same number of pitches had vastly different game times.

Umpires have to take control. They don’t. If a pitcher is in the stretch, a batter simply cannot step out. Cat n mouse crap. Conversely, if a batter is set in the box, a pitcher should not be entitled to step off the rubber unless throwing to a base for a pickoff. Enforce this along with a clock and I may plan on taking in a 2 hour evening of baseball.

As a fan who enjoys going to weeknight games, I'm ambivalent about the early start. It means moving up my work day a little. My guess is that it will be a little easier for me to come in from the west at 430 instead of 5. I park at the casino, and that has worked out very well.
