OT: Pitt Lacrosse

What a money pit. This is probably another reason Heather was shown the door
all sports outside of mens and womens hoops, football and maybe womens volleyball should all be club sports at the collegiate level. similar to how our ultimate frisbee and hockey teams operate..

That's you guys. I think college athletics have evolved to the point that if you aren't generating revenue, you shouldn't be a scholarship sport. I dont care what the mission was in 1951.
You are consistent, if nothing else. Consistently wrong is still by definition, consistent.

does anyone know how much of a scholarship each lax girl gets? my understanding is even at the top schools there's only 1 or 2 full scholarships and many other with 50% or less covered

the girls get other benefits but costs are rarely fully covered in any non revenue sport

I know specifics of girls at 3 significant lax schools with 6 different girls, one a Tewaarton nominee

A quick search came up with this answer. I don’t know if it’s valid.

“University Of Pittsburgh Panthers does offer athletic scholarships for Lacrosse. Need-based and academic scholarships are available for student-athletes. Athletic scholarships are available for NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA and NJCAA. On average, 34% of all student-athletes receive athletic scholarships.”

This is going to change if the House settlement finally gets approved, but the current scholarship limit for lacrosse is 12. Lacrosse is not a head count sport, so those 12 scholarships can be given out as partial scholarships. Pitt currently has 38 players on the roster. So the average Pitt player is getting 31.6% of a full scholarship. Of course some of those 38 are probably walkons and getting nothing, but the average player who is getting money is probably getting less than half a scholarship.
