Pitzer beat the #5, #1, and #2 seeds to win the 285 championship and as above named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the ACC Championships !
That's fair. Everybody is entitled to his own tastes in everything.I have said this a few times on the wrestling board but as someone who isn't a wrestling fan, I'd watch a team NCAA Tournament where Pitt has like an 8 seed and wrestles 9 seed Cornell or whatever. Then in the next round, they try to pull a massive upset over 1 seed Iowa. To me, that's good TV. Again, not a wrestling person, but the individuality of the sport takes away from potential broad appeal.
FWIW, the wrestling fans said this type of tournament is pointless because it would be PSU over Iowa every year. Maybe so. The PIAA does team tournaments. There's something about competing as a team. I want to root for Pitt, not necessarily Rece Heller. And I hope he goes far and all that and if I find out that he has an NCAA semifinal match or NCAA final, I'll try to watch it. But as a non-fan, that 1 match doesn't do it for me.

This was the ACC tournament, and Pitt finished 2nd, as a team. The team also had three individual winners. So, I'm not sure what your friends are referring to, unless your are not referring to the ACC tournment, and thought this was the NCAA tourney.
The ACC tournament is a team competition, with individual awards available.
The lack of a Dual National Tournament is due to the NCAA's rule that you can only have one championship per sport. There is talk of a future tournament like that, but it will be outside of the NCAA, and not all programs are on board. No, I know this is the ACC Tournament and as far as I'm aware, its not a "team tournament" but rather an individual Tournament where they tally up the individual points. And that's fine for a conference tournament. I was just saying, since this is tournament wrestling thread on a football board, that I would personally be interested in a team NCAA Tournament. The individual one they do, as a non-wrestling fan, is one of the worst things anyone could ever be forced to watch. But if Pitt was in an NCAA Tournament match vs Team XYZ, I'd watch that. I'd also think that ratings for something like that, especially the later rounds and PSU/Iowa final would be pretty good.

The biggest positive of the current format is an individual can win a national title from any school.
If only there were a way for you to not to have to read this thread. Are you aware that there is a separate board for wrestling? It's called the Field House and is just a little farther down on the list than the Football Board.
You are also welcome to start Pitt football threads. But why not post them on the Field House board?Feel free to start as many Pitt Football threads as you wish. Especially in the off season.
I have started more Pitt football related threads in the last month than you have in years. You are also welcome to start Pitt football threads. But why not post them on the Field House board?
It's wrestling season. Check the Field House for my wrestling threads. You really aren't making a lot of sense.I will be looking forward to your Pitt football threads coming soon.
Okay, you have a point. I don’t read other boards, and posted this as I do volleyball, baseball, track, etc… on this board. It's wrestling season. Check the Field House for my wrestling threads. You really aren't making a lot of sense.
The PIAA team tournament never gains theFWIW, the wrestling fans said this type of tournament is pointless because it would be PSU over Iowa every year. Maybe so. The PIAA does team tournaments. There's something about competing as a team.
Cael Sanderson has pretty much stated that his #1 priority is the NCAA tournament - not the B10 title nor the National Duels tournament. I don't even think PSU even goes to the National Duels anymore.I would personally be interested in a team NCAA Tournament.
