am i the only one that refers to it as the British open? I swear i grew up always hearing this. I get it, many times it's not in great brittain but it just was always "The british open" until recently as they pushed "the open." Am i wrong here. i was talking to some people and said it and they were genuinely pissed, like i made it up.
i showed them many pics and even TV Graphics of past events referencing it and they just said it's only called that when it's in britain and that made no sense since it was in scotland the years i showed it..
just curious, not really upset calling it "the open." Just wanted your opinion.
