OT: Question for the Lair’s hockey fans

I think the only reason that the NHL agreed to the deal to allow the Coyotes franchise to reactivate is because they know that there is almost no chance that it's actually going to happen.

What is far more likely is that after Alex Meruelo's option expires with him still not having a place to play that the NHL will then go out and look for a different owner in Phoenix who will be able to get a deal done. Whether they would call that team the Coyotes or not will be interesting, because new owners might not want to have anything at all to do with the stench of Alex Meruelo.

Edited to add, unless the NHL has a new commissioner by then, because the only reason Phoenix got as many chances as they did was because of the hard on that Gary Bettman has for having a team there. For some unknown reason.
Bumping this because Meruelo’s land auction was cancelled because he didn’t file for the proper permits. How did this buffoon make his billions again?

Reactions: Joe the Panther Fan
No one in Miami is ever going to care about hockey. They get 18K to playoff games but beyond that 18K, I doubt they have another 18K who gives a shit if they win or lose. Other markets have hundreds of thousands of fans, if not millions.

Good point about Austin. The demographics of Austin, being a little less "southern" makes me think it would be a good market. Houston isnt going to care. 4 pro teams. College sports are huge. MLS. No way.
If the Panthers end up blowing this series, they immediately get relocated to Quebec. These are the rules.

You are on salary earning $100,000 per year. You are expected to work Monday through Friday. Now you are being asked to work the next 28 Saturdays too. You’ll be paid an additional $2500. Are you happy?
It ain't exactly work though, right? It's a game. It is being with brothers. It matters. I mean most athletes can easily retire at 30, but they never do, or rarely, rarely do. Some, you have to force out. They love what they do.
