OT ..Ravens

Running QB’s are not sustainable in the NFL, especially when the guy can’t pass a lick. As the season wears on and he takes more hits the turnovers are going to pile up.
He passed the ball well enough to beat Seattle on the road . The threat of his running gets the receivers wide open . Can he do this for 10 yrs , no , but as long as he stays healthy the Ravens are going to be tough to beat .

It never lasts for QB’s that play that style, the hits slowly add up at this level and all of a sudden they’re not quite as effective running the ball and have to rely more on standing in the pocket and throwing. Nothing I’ve seen from him shows me he has a chance to be effective as a pass first QB when the threat of him running isn’t so strong.

We will see how he looks later in the season.

And he's got years to become a better passer.

This is true depending on how many direct hits he takes. As of now he appears to be very elusive, uses the sidelines and the early slide effectively.

Actually the Ravens won not because of Lamar Jackson but because their defense scored 2 TD’s. Unfortunately, Russel Wilson who is a truly great QB in every way decided to be horrible today.

Seattle is overrated, they only beat Pittsburgh 28-26 in Mason Rudolph's 1st pro game.

Exactly. As long as he stays healthy - which won't be long if he keeps carrying the ball 15-20 times a game. As soon as he loses a step he's done. He doesn't have the arm to make up for the lost step.

The Ravens simply evolved their system to fit him - they always have had a power between the tackles run game, use the TEs and take deep shots while playing tough defense.

He just gives them the run threat from the QB. He takes some hits there and there, but he is generally pretty smart about it.

Yeah, you can't be a running QB l like that for an entire decade, but he isn't going to "break" this year, or even in the next few years.

Every player is one hit away from retirement !

If I’m remembering that game correctly, we didn’t beat Seattle because our front seven couldn’t contain a scrambling Russell Wilson down the stretch. Kinda like the Seahawks couldn’t contain Lamar Jackson yesterday although a lot of his runs weren’t necessarily broken play scrambles.

I’d agree, barring a freak injury like RG3 had. But his risk for that is higher.

NFL defenses aren’t designed to stop a running qb especially one as good as LJ . There’s a trade off there because your definitely exposing your qb . So far it’s working !
