OT: So proud! Son Got Acceptance to Pitt Today!

Legacy. He's very happy. Loves Pitt, loves Pittsburgh even though he's a Cali boy. We'll see what happens at Columbia, Vandy and UCLA, but his heart is very much with Pitt!
H2P!

Congrats! Does he know what he wants to study?

Not too shabby for a kid with roots from Purchase Line.

Physics/Philosophy for now. but who knows. got into Pitt Honors.

Well, you literally can't go to a better school for philosophy.

And average SAT scores for Pitt's honors college (about a quarter of all Pitt students) is higher than the average for Columbia...or at least it was a few year ago.

Congrats to you and him! Just dropped my boy off at Bruce Hall a few weeks ago and remember how pumped he was last year when he got his letter.

Yep, Columbia wants an unweighted 4.0 and 1400 on SAT. Steve had that and 1450 on SAT Same as Pitt. However, most kids who apply to Columbia will hit those nos. Heavy emphasis on essays and recommendations. Who knows. Will be a crap shoot.

Congratulations to your son and to you and your wife as well! Nice selection of schools there but too pricey for undergraduate education.

FWIW, my advice for him is to skip the Ivy's, take Pitt's acceptance offer, work hard and do well there and have him save his tuition money for graduate school.
