This weekend is the girls version of the tournament at the convention center. Tournament is gigantic and there will be a lot of teams coming in. The schedule was released late last evening so I haven't had too much of a chance to look it over to see if there are any big recruits coming in.

Couple of famous parents will be there. Katy Schumaker-Cawley's youngest daughter is playing in the 13's and Big Ben's daughter is playing in the 12's division.

The elite open division games for 2027 and up recruits will start play at 8 AM on Saturday morning. There are premier teams from here in PA, Western New York, Ohio, Michigan, and Maryland, coming in. It's certainly something to see if you ever wondered about juniors. Stay away from that part of town around 2:00. There will be a crush of people moving in and out and complete gridlock.

If I see anyone interesting, I'll be sure to let you all know.

I suspect you'll see some of the Pitt coaching staff there.....let us know. If you see Kellen Petrone tell him he's overdue for sending out another 'Pitt Is It' tweet. :)

I didn't see any of the Pitt coaching staff. Did see a lot of D2 and D3 coaches. Was glad they were hovering around the courts my "tiny middle" daughter was on, haha. At 5'9" she was one of the shortest middles in the 16's that I saw. They weren't there for her but it was fun to see several schools represented I did see Katie Schumacher-Cawley's daughter playing yesterday but I don't think she was there. Someone from our group that knows them said that just her dad was there. Completely understandable.

There was a ton of talent at that tournament. One of our top teams got crushed all weekend in the Open division and they're pretty good. We played a couple of huge clubs from around Detroit and one from in the Burgh. Amazing how much talent these big clubs have. Never saw so many tall women in on place in my life. Our Saturday pool ended up being a tough draw. The winner of the pool medaled and the other three teams all won their Sunday bracket. Never saw that happen before. But there were a lot of tight games everywhere you looked.

Overall, I wasn't aware of any Pitt recruits. I know there was another tournament further west that some of the better Ohio and Michigan clubs were at. Very fun weekend and it wasn't difficult to find a really good game with talented girls to watch between my daughter's games.

Nice update.....happy to hear you had a good time. Looking forward to hearing more about your daughter's volleyball journey as time goes on.

How are your ear drums doing
That ringing sound isn't normal?

Thankfully, there weren't any 12's or 13's nearby. My daughter didn't start until 14 so I missed that although I did help with a tournament last year where it was all younger girls. The whole thing was beautiful chaos because of all of the "new" parents (what's an AES....why can't you just hang up paper schedules?!). But those girls are the loudest. But yeah, it was pretty loud all weekend.
