OT: Steelers' quarterbacks...

He's a solid quarterback. Not sure if he is NFL starting material but perhaps he could grow into such a role. He's the type of QB that, just like late career Ben, NEEDS an at least average running game to keep things honest. Impressed he did what he did today without competent running.

Mason played well. Looked like the kid that killed us when he was Ok. St.
Yep. The guy has pedigree. I’m willing to be wrong about him, but I’ve felt all along that people have been selling him short. That said, he’s the kind of QB who needs a strong pass blocking offensive line. And the Steelers don’t have that.

He's also not great at the dink and dunk short passing stuff, the only thing that has kept this team afloat without a decent line or running game. But we certainly have the weapons to run a high powered, deep passing game. Just need to commit to the line and better rbs. Easier said than done.

He could be Neil O'Donnell. You can win games with him if your team is good, but he's gonna come up short in the playoffs. He looked better than Landry ever did, that's for sure. I can see him sticking around the league for a dozen years, maybe even being a starter at some point, but teams will always be looking for a better option. Think Kyle Orton, Tyrod Taylor, Gardner Minshew.

Nothing against Mason. He's a good QB and I would have loved to have him at Pitt.

Right now, the Steelers are at the bottom of the AFC North in terms of starting QB ability or talent. Baltimore, Cincy, Cleveland all have superior starting QB's to us. We better be looking for a top starting QB and soon. Everyone else has already passed us by.

Yep...and the others QB in our division all have talent...top end talent. Baker being the least of the three but he's starting to put something together with that run game.

IMO opinion he has poor pocket awareness, good QBs can often sense a pass rusher is behind them and they move, Mason had a guy coming in and blasting him face front on one play and it was like he had no idea he was there.

Rudolph was the best QB on the field yesterday. He seems to have some upside. Maybe not pro-bowl but very solid. He played very well fir a first time starter his first 3-4 games last year before getting crushed. He then got tossed to the wolves when the whole offense around him got hurt. It wasn't any better yesterday but he is very improved. He's got the arm. Needs better pockett awareness and short accuracy but those both come with reps. Imagine him with an NFL OL and 1st team, legit NFL teammates.

I noticed last year that he had a lot of poise in the pocket and didn't get happy feet when the pocket was collapsing around him. But you're right, he may be too far in the other extreme where he just isn't very aware.

We have to keep in mind, myself included, that he hasn't much experience and had to be very rusty. He has a nice arm and had the guts to stand in there and look downfield, his internal clock was not working, but you gotta think that is mostly pure rust???
