Promote their assistant OL coach. What the heck was the point? The OL sucked last year so you let the coach walk and then promote the dude's assistant......Sheesh these guys are starting to look like Barnum and Bailey.....bunch of clowns.

Yeah, that was a definite head scratcher when I saw that news.Promote their assistant OL coach. What the heck was the point? Apparently this guy was responsible for working with the rookies. I guess there is some optimism given the success of Dotson. But yeah, not a terribly inspiring thing to promote the OL and OC from within on a failing offense.

Promote the assistant OL coach when Munchak leaves. 2 years later, dump that guy and turnaround and again promote the assistant OL coach.
Beginning to really question Tomlin’s search and hire capabilities.
This is my stance on it. Another perspective that IMO isn’t mentioned enough: the Steelers have both the lowest coaching payroll and the smallest staff in the league. I know Coach Tomlin has said he like it that way in the past, but why won’t the Rooney’s spend money on the coaching staff?Apparently this guy was responsible for working with the rookies. It doesn’t seem very wise to look for inspiration from the Steelers’ choice for OL coach.Less than inspiring
Fair enoughIt doesn’t seem very wise to look for inspiration from the Steelers’ choice for OL coach.
Exactly and keeping status quo and is not good. This is my stance on it. Have they been struggling at the race tracks? Only half joking...
I've noticed that you always want to throw it back to Pitt. Stay on the topic. Maybe admit that your stillers just aren't that good. The job of the new o line coach last year was to work with rookies and they were pretty good. When will Pitt hire top of the shelf asst is my concern!
Injuries and poor personnel decisions made a poor offensive line, worse. Per Pro Football Focus, 31st in the league in the run game. Pass game rated higher but mostly because Ben was only throwing four yard routes. My God, a cast off from the room is going to start in the Super Bowl for KC! It's not there wasn't a few decent players but the greater point is that the Steelers constantly left younger guys unprotected and they ended up on other rosters. It's possible this guy has a good idea how to run the room but the room needs some turnover. The last time the OL was this bad, they took OL-men with their first two picks and only one turned out. They can't afford to fool around at this position.
