OT: Super Bowl Commercials

No one will remember these people based on what, exactly? Do you have any evidence beyond your old man opinion?

You know what group formed over 20 years ago in 1995? NSYNC. You know, with Justin Timberlake. I seem to recall him still being popular and making music...
stop, you have said enough when you mentioned a boy band....very good though in that you found an exception to a rule...but quickly name five NSYNC songs? Backstreet Back Alright!! oops, wrong classic boy band I think...

So you admit you are wrong, right? Otherwise you wouldn't try to shut down the conversation and continually move the goalposts.

LOL! Really. Hey, I wouldn't shed a tear if every country and western yokel in Nashville bit it in a plane crash.

For the past several days now I have been watching news piece after news piece after news piece about the upcoming Super Bowl and all the exciting new commercials that are sure to be a part of it.

That got me to thinking, is there anything in popular culture more overrated than Super Bowl commercials?

Anything?

It seems to me like every single year, the day after the Super Bowl everyone complains that "there were no good commercials this year." And then we repeat the charade again the next year. And the year after that. And the year after that.

I am a bad judge of this thing anyway as I use commercials to talk with friends, grab some snacks, use the restroom, etc.

The commercials this year were more or less on par with last year...which is to say that they generally were pretty lame. A few were funny, but none were really all that memorable. Some were downright terrible (a constipation commercial on the Super Bowl....really?)

The game itself was pretty much a snoozer, even for someone who likes defensive battles (which I do). Dropped passes, missed receivers, fumbles...overall play was sloppy. It was so bad, that I actually turned the game off early in the 4th quarter and went for a swim.

If the Steelers aren't playing in the game next year, I might just skip the whole event and go play golf.

Cruzer

The commercials are lame every year - that was my original point. The commercials are major economic drivers, which is why the pre SB hype for them is always through the roof. However, literally every single year the discussion on the day after the game is how disappointing this year's commercials were - as if that was a surprise.

You can set your watch to it - next year at this time everyone will again be pissing and moaning about how bad SB51's commercials were compared to previous years.

True dat.

Just get funny people to make funny commercials and dont try anything else. I volunteer Dion Lewis on here to write, most his post are funny, even if unintended.
