Yea, I know there's not any excuse for Michigan State to lose that game but the committee did Sparty wrong on 2 fronts:

1. MSU barely missed a 1 seed and were seeded as the best 2 seed. MTSU, who I seeded as a 14, were slotted as the best 15 seed. In theory, the best 2 is supposes to play the worst 15. That's how bracketing works. Yet, Xavier, who was the #8 overall seed played Weber State, the lowest-seeded 15 seed. If you knew how to run a bracket, MSU should have played Weber State and Xavier should have played MTSU. I mean that is pretty simple Bracketing 101. To make things simpler all those games were in St. Louis so its not like the were trying to keep teams in certain cities.

2. The other thing was that MTSU finished 2nd in CUSA, going 13-5. I realize CUSA was decimated by realignment but it is one of the best mid-major leagues. If you go 13-5 in one of the best, if not the very best mid-major league, there's no way you get a 15 seed. That's just ridiculous.

C-USA is rated the 20th best league...

Sure, based on RPI. But come on, once you get past the P5, A10, American, MW, WCC, and BE, its next. If you know basketball, you know its not the 20th best league. You know this, levance. The RPI also said the P12 was better than the ACC.

Dont let a fact get in the way of a SMF rant.

CUSA has three teams ranked in the 300s

Five teams in the 200s

Four in the 100s

two in the single digits.

Again, you are going by RPI. Are we saying that RPI is the definitive way to judge teams and conferences? Can we agree that the P12 was better than the ACC then?

I'm willing to bet the major criteria SMF used for calling the CUSA one of the "best mid-major leagues" was that he remembered what CUSA stands for.

I'm not using RPI, I'm using Pomeroy. They have three teams 300+ and none better than 100. UAB was their regular season champion at 16-2 and they were a 7-seed in the NIT. That's really bad.

I'm not trying to say they are the NEC, but they're not even close to being the "top mid-major". The Ivy League has three teams better than MTSU.

OK. But how come the Top #2 drew the top #15 and the worst #2 drew the worst #15. Honestly, I think they either totally effed that up by accident or really had no idea of the concept of bracketing (the higher the seed, the easier the path)

They poorly seeded a lot of teams. There were many worse items than MSU-MTSU. What the hell difference does which 15-seed make? Wichita in Dayton or Oregon State as a 7 are clearly worse oversights.

Not based on RPI for Wichita and ORST and that's pretty much all they use.

Lets not debate whether or not a 13-5 CUSA team deserved a 15 seed right now. They got a 15. Fine. But on the true seed list, they were seeded as the best 15. Do you not agree that as the best 15, they should have been matched against the worst 2, Xavier? I don't think anybody, including the committee, including Michigan State understands how wrong this one. They gave the #8 overall seed an easier team than the #5 overall seed and not based on my subjective option of who is better......based on the committee's seeding of MTSU and Weber State.
