Unfortunately CBS' dream pairing of Jordan and Rory fizzled out, but with good conditions today and the scores being so close, honestly this is anyone's to win. And how many people had to google Smylie Kaufman? (True story: he has a brother named Lucky.)

Looking forward to a terrific afternoon of golf.

Three days of windy conditions making birdies hard to come by.
Putting was even difficult!

Not sure if anyone watch Ernie Ells 7 putt on his first hole day 1.
Most of the putts were 3-4 footers.

Horshel placed his ball down and picked up his mark and the ball
blew off the green into the water hazard ( waterball).

Bubba was distracted by the windy conditions. But its easy to distract Bubba my favorite player along with Dustin Johnson.

Speith opened the door with a double boogey yesterday late in the round
moving him from 6 under to 4 under.

It should be a shootout today with great conditions forecasted!

Grip it and rip it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the Cheap Seats; being an old coot, I have to pull for Bernhard. Long shot at best, but I'd love to see him in the hunt.

We're the opposite even though I'm older than Langer who's 58 we love to see the young guns win.

It should be an interesting day but if Langer can hold it together he has a chance. Maybe a few extra Advils for him this morning.

The leaderboard has a bunch of kids....and a geezer. But he hits fairways & greens, is PDG with his 6-ft scraper, too. Said there was a par 4 where he hit a 3-wood as his second shot, Jason Day used a 7-iron. Amazing.

Tom Watson said the same. He hit his driver and a 5 wood, while one of the younger guys hit a driver and 8 iron??? Wow! Watson's quote - " the course is to big for me." Build longer golf courses for the tour guys. I see 8,000 yard courses in the future.
And Langer still uses the outlawed long putter but doesn't anchor it which makes it legal I guess!
I think that's how the announcer explained it.

I was fascinated with how he still uses the long putter but doesn't quite anchor it. Surprised that they still let them use the equipment at all.

Apparently as long as its not anchored its legal. That is supposed to take the advantage of the length away.
Never used one, never liked the look, plus I walk and carry my golf bag so that kind of putter would make carrying a bag difficult.

They banned it BECAUSE of the "anchoring", so they have to allow it. Funny, Adam Scott is putting better now than before, with a conventional scraper. I tried one of those broomsticks a while ago. Felt really awkward, I'm guessing it takes a long time to get it right.
Spieth will get a challenge, today, but doubt it'll be Bernhard. Maybe Day....he's got a lot of game, seemed bothered by the wind. These guys are a bit too pampered.

Agree about Scott. He is by far my favorite golfer; too bad he's out of contention.

I like Bubba......crazy, but fun. Doesn't hold anything back.
My wife and I love Bubba. Definitely a "looper" but fun to watch and listen to.
He was on golf channel with Ferherty and he said he's afraid of heights and buildings falling on him. But he's a great golfer, he's happy, has a wonderful wife and family.

He does seem like a good guy, but I remember a couple years back some publication (SI?) conducted an anonymous survey with many on the Tour, and Bubba BY FAR was the most disliked. Not sure how nice he is in real life.

I know it's easy to say now, but I was at Tuesday's practice round and with the possible exception of Rickie Fowler, Langer was the most relaxed and engaging guy out there. Joking around with the crowd, hugged a few ladies, and just gave the general appearance of a guy that was at his home.

He was so much fun to be around that we followed him for a few holes and ended up missing seeing the Day/Scott pairing because of it. I am thrilled he is playing so well this week.

He also likes cars....all sorts. His hovercraft golfcart is a hoot.

Yes that's true. When he's not playing and relaxed his interviews are fun!
While playing lots of stuff bothers him, he talks to himself and caddy a lot, complains about the courses, doesn't like a lot of the courses, etc. But despite all of that he does ok.
I like his eclectic, let cook up a shot style!
Plus hitting balls on a range bores him so he practices on the course by playing rounds of golf. Interesting player!

Scott has 2 birdies in the first 3 holes. There is going to be a LOT of movement today.

First off, in a Masters Draft I actually did pick Smylie Kaufman as my 9th guy. You know the ones, where there are flight of golfers, like "pick one of Spieth, Day, McIlroy, Scott, etc..." (I picked Day) then it goes through groups of 5 until like the 7th slot and then it is the rest of the field.

The most amazing story is Bernhard Langer.

What has been disappointing, why I love the Masters is because while a tough course than can punish missed shots, it also rewards aggressive shots and guys can make charges up the leaderboards with runs. Because of the wind, this Masters has played more like a US Open as a war of attrition. I like the US Open, but to me, the Master's is always the most enjoyable major. I think today the wind should die down, but the course is going to be dry and fast.

Dang it - I need to get into a Master's Draft. Majority of chicks just aren't into these kind of things. I could see me suggesting it amongst my group of friends.

At macrame' class???

So here is the question. Would you pay $1,000 to walk the course and be permitted to drop a couple of balls on each green and putt for 3 minutes. Then get to play holes 11, 12 , 13 from tee to green and then continue to walk the remaining holes with the same putting opportunity. Total time would be about 2 hours to do this with lunch afterwards

Total cost $1,000

Would you sign up for that?

Augusta, right? YES! (Although the tee to green would take up most of those 2 hours though.)

By making the greens putt like you're on concrete, I think they ruined the Masters this year. It's pathetic watching the best in the world not be able to make 3-footers and putting the ball off the green. All because they don't want the best in the world shooting low scores on their precious course. Ridiculous.

Usually I really like the Masters -- not so much this year.

Go Pitt.

Lots of people would!
The answer to your question is lots of people do!
Everyone likes different stuff.

I ask that because $1,000 is sizeable but for a golf nuts who will never play Augusta most would pony up the grand

I would !!!

I think almost anybody would in a minute. My Tuesday practice round tickets I got in the lottery cost $65 each, but on Monday evening they were going for $1000 each on Washington Road. Stubhub had them priced up to $1300. I have never seen anything quite it, guy at a bar offered us $3000 cash for our set of 4, never thought about taking it.

Golf nuts is an appropriate term for us the people who week after week hit a white ball, I carry my bag and I'm 65, chase the little white ball for 4 hrs., complain about our score , tell stories about why we had such a miserable score, and do it again and again, and again with similar results!!!!!????????

Fyi my wife is a golf nut too!

Signed:
Golf Nuts I mean Golf Nut!

Quadruple bogey !
Jordan undeniably is a fantastic golfer. The one thing I don't like is how long he takes for every shot. I believe he was on the clock yesterday or Friday. Just a pet peeve. (Obviously not as bad as Furyk or Bradley, though. Now Keegan is a golfer I just don't like.)

What do you do on the back nine?

I agree that guys like Spieth and Bradley are agonizingly slow....one reason I am a big fan Of Snedeker.

But I like Keegan Bradley. Guy comes from Vermont....could have played college golf at any Southern / Western power schools and chose to go to ST Johns in NYC. Always argued that Northeastern golfers get a bad rap as not quite good enough. That scores points with me.

Americans again showing how our everyone gets a trophy "exceptionalism" shows why we lose international events like Ryder Cups and Wars.
I don't understand your correlation at all. This is an individual sport where they are independent contractors living week to week on performance. Winning trophies as kids means nothing at this level.

Jordan Spieth lost because he got a participant ribbon in a Drive, Chip and Putt competition when he was 8?

44 of the top 100 golfers in the world are Americans and a good chunk of the other 56 live in the USA.

As a Veteran, when you mention losing wars because of exceptionalism is pretty insulting. Go to boot camp then serve in combat and let me know if your opinion of the United States " everyone gets a trophy " opinion changes.

Yessir. I'd hit a 6-iron at #12, just to be sure!!! ;) Aim for that trap in the back. The putts wouldn't bother me too much. Toured Oakmont with only 3 3-putts.....long time ago.

Yeah agree totally. I get that you want to be sure, but it also can lead to you second and third guessing yourself which obviously happened to him yesterday. Don't like Keegan Bradley either.

He takes a long time getting ready....but then just hits it. Rarely takes a practice stroke over the ball on the green. It works for him, though, so expect no change.....plus, it gives Nantz more time to mumble his prayers. The Directv enhanced channels are great. They select a couple groups on one, Amen Corner on a second, 15 & 16 a third, 17& 18 to close. The best thing is it is put on their lower packages, nothing extra to pay. That won't last....PPV will soon rule TV sports.
