Any favorite original episodes out there ?
Mine was the "Will the real martian please stand up"
Rod Serling was a genius ...
The one where the little kid from Lost in Space is all powerful and evil and sends people into the corn field and turns the dude into a Jack O Lantern...I thinks its called "its a Good Day"

Most of their comedy episodes, while fun, are pretty bad.

Some of their episodes are wayyyyy too heavy handed. We get it. Racism is bad. Bigotry is bad. You can put the hammer down a little and stop beating me over the head with it.

The hour long episodes of Season 4 are mostly trash.

And once his writers left, Rod was too stretched out and stories in Season 5 were mostly junk.

But, even at its worst, it was fun and entertaining.

“How would you like to take a flying leap at the moon” is such a fun made up way to say “go f*ck yourself” on tv.

One has to question the expertise on this subject of one who can watch the brilliance of Jim Kirk seeing a monster on an airplane wing and consider it "junk"...Good day to you sir.

They did a remake of several of those episodes in Twilight Zone the Movie in 1983. Part of the movie was the Kirk episode, and the Billy Mummy episode. That was the movie that Vic Morrow from Combat fame was killed with two kids filming a scene where he was a racist ended up transported to Vietnam trying to save the two kids and the helicopter in the scene crashed killing then all.

Sort of off topic but on, if you are a fan of the simpsons, especially the early years, a lot of the Halloween episodes are based off the twilight zone

Another fun fact.

Serling co-authored "The Planet of the Apes".

Serling was a brilliant series writer and playwright.

A couple of other great episodes

1) the coin that landed in the paperboy's bucket on its side......allowed the guy who tossed it to read peoples minds.....

2) the curmudgeon who didnt fit in and who didnt have any friends.....goes down in the bank vault to read a book on his lunch break....and the world ends from nuclear bombs.

For those who are unfamiliar, that man from number 2 went on to manage Rocky Balboa.

… One that really stuck with me and unfortunately I cannot remember the name was the one in which the naval captain sank a civilian ship and he was cursed to re-live the night over and over. Dying a death at sea like that is insanely freaky. It’s so quiet and serene until the invasion happens and it just really resonated with me but in a morbidly enjoyable way.

there were a few i really liked. one was the dude who kept falling asleep on the train and dreaming about some mayberry type town. his life sucked, he'd go home and his wife would just yell at him lol so he'd dream about this great town where everyone was friendly.

think the ending, he fell off the train or something. also another one where a dude from the old west walks into some time warp thing and walks into a diner in "present time", like the 50s or 60s. not much plot too it but it was good..

i really like those old twilight zone reruns. they are goo.

how about the one where the dude builds a bomb shelter and there is a threat of a bomb and he wont let his neighbors in and they flip out on him, end up breaking the door down but the bomb is a hoax and they are like, 'oh sorry bro, we are cool now though."

Him, Fritz Weaver, and Jack Klugman were in a ton of episodes. Unfortunately Klugman was never given any of the classic scripts, so his 4 appearances throughout the show are frequently forgotten.
Not to mention a bunch of hot chicks from that era....I'm talk'n bout you Nancy Kulp, you vixen...

Unfortunately Klugman was never given any of the classic scripts,... you're joking, right? The "A Game of Pool" episode is generally consider a top five 'classic' episode across the board...

I thought "A Game of Pool" with Klugman and Jonathan Winters was one of the better episodes.

It’s good. I think a lot of his episodes are good except for the kid in Vietnam one. Which is meh.

But it’s not an episode that Dan Aykroyd and Albert Brooks are talking about in the car for a reason.

To Serve Man and Eye of the Beholder and Time Enough at last and episodes like that are regarded as the quintessential Twilight Zone stuff.

I’d argue William Shatner’s two episodes are regarded as more representative of the show than his 4.

William Shatner, when he kept seeing the monkey on the wing of the plane and nobody believed him, with those exaggerated Shatner facial expressions :)

No it’s not.
if you say so.....
