"The report shows Tiger tested positive for Hydrocodone (painkiller, generic form of Vicodin), Hydromorphone (powerful painkiller known as Dilaudid), Alprazolam (aka Xanax), Zolpidem (sleeping pill also known as Ambien) and THC."

Wow. I'm hoping he gets some help, cause he needs it.

He's needed help since his first wife beat him with a five iron for chasing another woman, and after the skier girlfriend knocked his tooth out for similar reasons!
Not to mention that he "entertained" Amada Duffner at his and her home in Jupiter FL while Jason Duffner was busy chasing a golf ball around trying to make a living.

But yet pleads not guilty to driving under the influence...geez. good chance Tiger may be an addict.

Amanda Dufner got around a lot in college at Alabama. Dufner was the poor schlub who fell for her without knowing and gave away a big chunk of money. No surprise, at all, she kept her side game going.

Be careful.. I hope you never have to suffer severe back problems.. you would pray to have the prescriptions that he had to take in order to sleep just 1 hour a night.. until you walk a mile in someone's shoes, keep your mouth shut.

I've had major back problems. To the point I had surgery. Thankfully it was 100% successful.

I don't believe his is all from pain. This combo was WAY over the top. I think he probably started off taking meds with good intentions and we're medicinal but it went off the rails and he got addicted like many people do.

If he continues to take cocktails like that it's going to kill him eventually.

Yeah, I too have gone thru back surgery after trying to avoid it for 8 years.

I don't know much about Tiger's personal life or physical condition, other than what's in the media. But if he's taking that many different meds, he might be going to several doctors -- and individually, they're not aware of the other doctors and what the others are prescribing for him.

Perhaps. But when you reach his heights there will always be people who will always say yes and never challenge you in order to stay on the gravy train. But What you're saying is certainly possible and pretty common.

careful of what? She just listed his meds and said wow which is the appropriate response to a dude driving around (somehow on ambien to boot) stoned to the bejesus. .

I took hydrocodone last week (prescribed) and I was given Dilaudid before, that stuff is no joke. this was ALL in his system? damn Eldrick, take it easy bro, drink a couple shots of rail tequila, that usually brings me back down to earth in quite a hurry.

He obviously needed help long before that. There was a reason she clubbed him in the first place. She hits a better 5 iron than I do for sure.

I take a baby aspirin (now there's a term you don't hear anymore) once a day. So far, no problems and have won just as many pga events as Tiger the last two years.

The guy has a problem, he's admitted to that...well sort of.
You don't take 2 opioids together (usually) or two "benzo's" together (usually) or opiods and benzo's together (usually)...what the hell let's smoke a blunt to take the edge off.
He's lucky he didn't kill someone...wonder how many game suspension the PGA will give him?

p.s. I don' think that Amanda chick is that hot ! He has done better probably lots of times. Must have been a slow week at the range shagging balls.

I'm sorry that you have been in such pain and you're right, I hope that I never have to experience anything like that.

Tiger's cocktail of drugs was way over the top and I cannot believe any ethical physician prescribed all of them, together. I think back to when my oldest had orthognathic surgery a few years ago and was in extreme discomfort a few hours post-op. I literally was running around pulling my hair out at Mercy trying to get him one dose of an IV painkiller. I eventually succeeded when I personally called his surgeon, but it demonstrated to us the extreme precautions health professionals are taking with opioids of any kind.

So yeah, seeing all the drugs he was on AT ONCE confuses me.

Q: What does Tiger and Prince have in common, other than a boat load of money?

Let's hope for Tiger's sake, the "does" doesn't turn into "did". It sounds as if he's pretty far along that path already.

Mrs Buffett broke her shoulder snowboarding at a Western ski resort.
After surgery they gave her Oxycodone. She took a few and on day # 2 handed me the bottle and said " get rid of these and get me something with less strength."
We returned them to the Dr and he wrote a scrip for something less addictive!
The bad part was they gave Mrs Buffett a huge supply of Oxycodone way more than what should be necessary to get thru two days or so of post surgery!

Less addictive is an oxymoron.

Less addictive is an oxymoron.
I hear you, my guess is he meant something that is not addictive. Unfortunately with pain relief, that's almost everything. My husband is going to have a hip replacement soon and he barely gets through the day without a lot of ibuprofen. I know technically it isn't addictive, but I think whatever relief he is getting is not only physical at this point but also mental, too.

Ibuprofen isn't addictive- it's very damaging though- and increasing risk for stroke and heart attack when taken chronically.

Fixing the source of pain is the key.

Making it with drugs is a recipe for trouble.

Totally agree. That's why they're picking a surgery date. Not so easy when you're in sales and no time is the right time.

If the alternative way Tylenol or ibuprofen - it's a valid point.
If it's another controlled substance it's not.
Ok so after Mrs Buffett turned in the OxyCodone they gave her HydoCodone which was almost as addictive.

  1. Lortab is the brand name for hydrocodone and acetaminophen (tylenol). Hydrocodone is not the same as oxycodone and oxycodone is much stronger than hydrocodone. Oxycodone drugs include OxyContin, Percocet, etc. So a simple answer, oxycodone is stronger.
Plus we were amazed at the quantity of Hydrocodone prescribed?
Mrs Buffett took them for a few days and returned the unused to the Dr again and went on non prescription drugs just to be safe!

So explain why do Drs prescribe more pills than are necessary this seems to be a huge issue when unused drugs are floating around!

FWIW - I had surgery a few years back and was prescribed hydrocodone post-op. Totally did nothing. Zero. I gritted it out on regular pain relief which actually worked better. Turns out I have learned that a % of the population is like me and gets no relief from it. Weird.

It's exactly as addictive .
Both are c2. Both are strong...different derivatives.

Docs prescribe more than you need because they don't want to see you again.

Good for you to have "gutted" it out that's what Mrs Buffett did. With an occasional shot of her favorite Peach Schnapps or Malibu Coconut Rum.
To large of a risk to become addicted to this stuff!
You're a good example for your family and others. You seem like that kind of person based on your posts!

Well, in full disclosure I would have taken it if it had worked, but it did nothing. Tylenol and Advil worked better. Go figure. (Also why I always have to pause when I hear someone is addicted to Vicodan.)

Having said that, I get headaches from any over-indulgence - sleep, food, booze, etc. It's kept me on the straight and narrow all my life. ;)

I had both of my knees scoped (the same day) last fall, and asked my surgeon for "the good stuff" for pain relief. I received a script for Hydromorphone, 2mg., and it worked wonderfully. I had to take a week off, and only had to use the pain med. for the first couple of days, but I was glad I had it. I think I only took one the third day, but it was nice to know that I had something that would work if needed.

I was taking Meloxicam 7.5 mg. for knee pain before surgery. I'm glad I don't need that anymore.

I forgot what they gave me when I had my surgery but it made me feel like I was on another planet. I couldn't read or even watch tv really. I stopped taking it after 2 days and took my chances.

Really sad, could have been the greatest golfer of all time... instead he ruins his marriage, scars his kids for his own selfish reasons. He does need help before he injures someone else.

In fairness-
If you are treating acute pain- addiction isn't a big concern.
Even chronic conditions like cancer- tolerance is the issue rather than addiction.

Meloxicam is just an anti inflammatory

Funny how bodies respond differently. I had broken my leg and needed surgery. Fair amount of pain after. Was prescribed Percocet. It did absolutely nothing for me. Was like a placebo. I actually wondered if the pills were legit. Gutted out for a few days and then had an office appointment with ortho doc. He prescribed me ... you guessed... Vicodin to try. It worked quite well.

You're not the only one I've come across. Who knows?

I found a way to help golf's declining ratings. Give Tiger a golf cart during tourneys. Feed him these pills and watch the hilarity ensue.
