That stadium was a classic dump.Very dramatic game and HR.
Funny how dark that stadium appeared, at least on TV
Very true and it contributed to the Irsay's reasons for sneaking the Colts out of Baltimore and moving them to Indianapolis. That stadium was a classic dump.
Willie was a class act. I met him once (spoke for maybe 2 or 3 minutes) and he could not have been nicer. I got a personal autograph which I hope I still have. I put it away years ago and when I did, I said to myself, "I'll put it here so I can remember exactly where it is." Of course, I haven't got a clue now.
He was a man with Popeye forearms. Saw him hit a walk off over the right field roof at Forbes circa 1969-70. Then not long after that hit a bomb going oppo over the huge scoreboard in left. That was a feat. It was 365 down the line!! Wow.He could hit some “prodigious blasts”
there was no doubt about it....

That’s good to hear. People in the media say that Pops knew how to play the game and was a real jerk when the cameras and tape recorders weren’t rolling. And of course, there’s the other thing...that he was nicknamed Pops for being the guy that introduced and provided the pills for the players.Willie was a class act.
