Seriously this organization is beyond repair at this point. Art Rooney isn't even the owner imo it's Mike Tomlin.

What a joke

Russ would run into the office to sign that deal. Sign Russ to a $20-25 million deal if they plan to draft a QB early. If not, sign one of the younger QBs out there and see what you can get out of them.

This is insane. I'd much rather sign a backup like Mason Rudolph or Kenny Pickett very cheap and spend the $100 million on offensive talent

This is the equivalent to giving Nate Yarnell a massive NIL deal to be our QB when there are plenty of Yarnell's out there for almost free. Would rather get one of those QB's and spend the money on OL and playmakers.

That’s what a smart organization would do, but we are talking about the Steelers. You could get a FA and then draft a guy like Gabriel in the 3rd round.

Seriously, name some backup QB out there who we can get for cheap. How much better is Wilson than that guy?

Lets just say Pickett as the average backup, I know he's not coming back but would you rather have:

Wilson + no offensive upgrades

A QB like Pickett + a very good tackle + a very good WR or TE

Too long and too much money. Something like 2 years for 50 million would be much more palatable. Hell I’d rather bring Fields back for a reasonable amount and hope better options presented themselves after next season.

The only good thing about Wilson signing is that it would take the specter of Daniel Jones off the table. I haven’t seen much speculation about where he might sign next year but even the thought of him in a Steelers uniform scares me.

The only good thing about bringing Wilson back for that kind of money and that kind of term is that it might just get us that miserable season we need to have a better chance to get an actual franchise QB here.

How anyone could watch him play over the last month and delude themselves into thinking that he is any sort of answer to what this team needs is beyond me.

For that money, I’d rather roll with Fields and use the extra cap space to fill out the roster… who am I kidding, they wouldn’t use it at this point.

They aren’t winning a Super Bowl with him.

They aren’t replacing him with Josh Allen Lamar or mahomes. So they ain’t winning one with whoever replaces him

Rational people know the obvious answer, but the truth is #1. People in this town got so nasty and visceral towards Pickett I wouldn't blame him if he hated this place. 2#. This city has a nasty habit of putting close to a decades worth of problems on the starting QB's back. This team stinks and it is NOT a quarterback away from being a Superbowl contender. Failure to recognize that is chief among the reasons they refuse to embark on a true rebuild.

Get a bum QB cheap and spend QB money on offense. Maybe you can even lose enough games to land the great Drew Allar in the 2026 draft live from Pittsburgh!

Have to think they resign Russ or Fields. Neither is the long term answer. Russ might cost more per year, but I’d think Fields might want more term. If Russ would sign for 2 years I’d do it. He’s the guy next year, then draft a QB, and they have another year of Russ until that kid hopefully gets up to speed.

Not many UFAs that I’d lose sleep over. I’d try to bring back Elandon Roberts, but with Queen contract and Payton Wilson that might not happen. Donte Jackson if they can get a friendly deal. He was decent when healthy and they are desperate at corner. I guess Kyle Allen to be backup QB.

at this point, i'd rather see Fields than Wilson. and im not a huge fan of either. Sign fields and draft a McCord or Will Howard in the 3rd or 4th.. Desperate i know but dont see too many other options..

EDIT: I just saw a sporting news mock draft that has us getting ewers in the first. hmm, not sure about that. and yes, i know i'll be reading endless "way too early" mock drafts for the next 4 months that has us getting anyone and everyone.

I tend to agree if Fields comes cheap enough.

If it goes that route they need to get a coordinator who can do some RPO. Risky, I get it. But they need to take advantage of his running abilities. And if they stink, it’s a better draft pick.

What a joke

Tomlin is a joke and must go. Rooney has his nose lodged to far up Tomlin's ass. Steeler fans that really care if they still attend, need to boo and start fire Tomlin chants. Put the heat on this organization to do what should have been done already. Signing any qb is really irrelevant. This team needs rebuilt. The defense is old and basically sucks, even the so called key players are fading fast. The only place they have begun to address is the O-line. If they play these guys where they belong (Jones) they might have a good O-line in a couple years.

Being that we are so far away from being competitive, we need to tank and start finding some players that can change the direction of this floundering franchise. See the Texans for example; Stroud, Will Anderson. These guys are difference makers, but, you don't get those guys when you finish 500. The Best case scenario for the Steelers is:
1. Tomlin is let go or steps down.
2. Sign a cheap qb
3. Finish 4-13
4. Start drafting players who can make a difference.
5. Add a real qb down the road when you've assembled a few playmakers on both sides.

None of this will ever happen unless item #1 happens first.

If you guys think this sucks, just wait til they re-sign Dan Moore and take a safety in the first round.
Dan Moore will be one of the top Left tackles in the free agent market. there is zero chance we resign him, he's gonna make huge money..

think we move Jones back to left, Fautanu at right and go with that. We need safeties big time, not sure how deep the draft is but i think you go safety either in first or second round.

We shall see. It appeared that way early in the season. Then he showed who he is. He led the league in sacks allowed.

But I can’t imagine the Steelers resign him regardless. I think they’ll do what you’re saying.

Playing two guys out of position on the OL would be a very Steeler thing to do. And I was joking about the safety. That's like drafting a RB in the first round.

Broderick jones moved back and forth from left to right so many times that i forget what his natural position even is. Fautanu and Jones will be our tackles, both flip flopped so find out what side they are best at and go with it..

Good point about safety, we really need one but you are right, first rd safeties outside of special talent like Troy P or an Ed Reed, are kinda "Dime a dozen." Maybe i still have Terrell Edmunds in my mind. so yeah, draft one early but not THAT early.

Yup. Dumb to keep Fields if you don’t design the offense to take advantage of his running ability.

But they really need to upgrade the skill players around him as well. Problem isn’t just the Qb but the fact that the Steelers hand no one defenses fear

WR is clearly the Steelers biggest position of need, but they should be picking BPA, even if that’s a safety. There is no position they shouldn’t be looking to upgrade, aside from kicker or OLB / edge.

Dan Moore beat Jones out in camp. Only reason Jones even saw the field is because Fautanu got hurt. Anyway, Fautanu played left tackle at Washington and most people thought Jones was a reach at LT.

And the Bengals are thrilled with Amarius Mims, who Jones was listed as an "OR" with on the depth chart at Georgia. Bengals grabbed him a couple of slots ahead of Fauntanu.

No question. That stands no matter what. I said earlier this year everyone on the offense is just a guy except Pickens (and he’s a twat) and maybe Frazier. And while OL is super important they’re not playmakers (obviously).

BPA should exclude safety and RB.

I agree in terms of need the greatest need is a #1 Wr or TE. The Kid from PSu comes to mind. If that’s not available when they pick then you take either another OL or DL. You win along the LOS. I’d also wouldn’t draft a LB or Corner unless they were head and shoulders better than the options at wr te and along the lines

Broderick Jones is a huge disappointment. Guy has all the physical gifts, but he is lost out there at times. Did anyone see the run play Saturday where Jones and Moore were both pulling in opposite directions? After realizing he screwed up, he just kind of stood there. Like if you’re going to make a mistake, at least hit someone.

I hope Fautanu returns to form, because they need tackles. Trading up for Jones when they could’ve taken Christian Gonzales looks like another blunder by their front office.

I know this won’t go over well here but if they can’t get a #1 wr and the TE from UPS is available I’d take him. Dudes really really good

Could it be the poor OL play is poor coaching? I’d probably start there first and get a legitimate OL coach

I’m talking BPA all draft. I agree not taking a RB 1st round because of the value (and assuming they tender Warren). But they will (and should) probably take a back at some point. Too many Steeler fans are still fixated on Terrell Edmunds in the first when they think safety. Edmunds pick was exactly the opposite of BPA. He was an overdraft. If you have a Minkah type player there at 21 you take a safety.
