A request for some advice here. What service or website do you use to book your US domestic flights through?

Just looking for a site that has a big selection of carriers and options. Preferably one that does not have an algorithm to shunt me towards the biggest carriers that are going to fly me all over the country for what could otherwise be a short direct flight.

Please don't reply with "Google.com" (as someone will predictably do). I am looking for actual helpful advice from people who have used the sites.

Usually use...... Google Flights. Seriously lol.
Well, you got me there. I had never used that site. It gives some very strange options for connections, like routing me through Palmerston North on a Dash-8 to get to Auckland in the preferred flight, but otherwise plenty of options and numerous sites listed to book the travel.

But this will work and I need to give you a review on your post:

"Yes"

Not planning on going through Palmerston North. It is the only NZ airport that has made it into the "Air Crash Investigation" tv show.

Kayak

I think it let's you filter out the 737 Max 8 flights.
I avoided the Max8 last time I booked to the US and between booking and the flight it ended up being a Max8. I did somehow survive it.
Thanks for the Kayak suggestion.
I know my ignorance of all of this sounds like I just climbed out from under a rock. But my web ads and searches are highly directed to NZ sites. I am getting US tv feeds, but the ads are mainly obesity, psoriasis or ED drugs. Some airline or travel booking ads would be nice actually.

I use whatever - Expedia, Kayak, etc.

Then go directly to the airline website...while in Incognito Mode

They all track if you're a returning price checker and raise the price each time.
If you are referring to private browsing on your browser, I think the only blocking is from your own computer history. I think websites can still track your IP address. Those modes can block cookies though. To be certain you're not tracked, VPN does the trick.

For this booking, I just need the flight options and price for an approval. The flights will be more expensive when the travel agent books them. Work doesn't let me book them and get reimbursed for fraud prevention reasons. It costs them money for that but isn't my problem at that point...

The advantage with google is that they search the other sites and include them in their results. Google does not book flights themselves, so they have no incentive to steer you to certain airlines or sites.

yep, I've done incognito mode looking at Southwest, and literally the next day they are emailing me asking if I'm still interested in that flight to Chicago.
