Hardly exorbitant by today’s standards.

Went to grade school with a guy who is now an NFL assistant. He must be good, he keeps getting jobs (he's an assistant secondary coach), even though he just got let go (with an entire staff) for like the 4th or 5th time. Decent career where you can continuously get fired yet make 200K+ a year!

FSU: Norvell was allotted $5.25 million in his contract for his assistant coach pool.

All told, the base and supplemental pay for West Virginia’s 10 assistant coaches in 2021 total $3,585,000

The assistant coach salary pool has increased to $7.5 million per year, improving his staff's salary pool from the previous $6 million per year.

Vtech has hired "football" guys. They will eventually be solid and competitive but I question if they will be able to improve their recruiting enough to good quickly.

It’s kind of crazy to think 5.5 million is what it takes to get you a staff that’s relatively short on experience.

Like neither one of their coordinators has ever been a coordinator before. Their QB coach was only ever a low-level QB coach.

I think their staff is pretty solid. But it seems like just a few years ago, 5.5 million would have gotten you the best of the best.

The worst inflation in 40 years is affecting everything.

We know Pierson very well. He was on the previous staff and thought he was out of a job. Excellent player coach and loves the area. Those salaries in Blacksburg go along way.

WVU’s staff limit is 4M on the dot. We currently have an opening that will take us up to the 4M. Casazza broke it down earlier this week because we are wondering if the opening will be filled by Neal or GH (bringing in someone he would prefer).

Great thread.

I apologize if I missed it, but that is the number for HCPN's posse?

Seems like a reasonable way to determine coaching success. Divide the coaching salary pool by the number of wins.
